About the Chandrashila Trek with Chopta Tungnath:
Here is a 4 day 3 nights Chandrashila trek with Chopta Tungnath starting from Haridwar. Deorital trek would amuse you definitely, for it is the most visited lake with enthralling sights around it and then you will also be getting the mind-blowing sunset views from Chaukhamba Peak on the way. Chopta as a destination is reverberating, because of the largely vivacious patches of pine, oaks and rhododendron are quite alluring to watch. From 3000 meters height above sea level, one will be entertained by the visibility of Himalayan ranges pretty closer.
Chopta to Tungnath would also be an exciting trekking trip since the short trek has tricky trails to make you happy as well as anxious. The holy Tungnath temple is situated at 3400 meters above sea level. It is the right space to experience peace of mind and even do meditation to rejuvenate yourself by absorbing the pure radiance from the sun coming in between the swaying trees. Kedar, Chaukhamba and some of the other major peaks come closer to you while you are on the top portion of Chandrashila. Golden-breasted eagles are a normal sight from the summit.
This trek is comparatively easy making it suitable for beginners and also for children. Yet, advanced trekkers would also find it quite interesting passing by the thick green forests and watching the snow-clad peaks at the distance. Normal fitness is only necessity to do this trek and those who love nature deeply would get a feast to their eyes with this closer to nature trek and the sights will be varying depending on the season you choose.
On the last day of the trek, you will be travelling back to Haridwar watching the beautiful Alakananda and other rivers. While you take this trekking expedition, you will be walking for 6-7 hours on an average every day but it will be really smooth and soothing for your body and mind, truly.

The highest temple of the Garwal is Tunganath. The tallest Shiva Shrine is here. Although, this might all make it sound in your head like a holy or spiritual trek, no, this trek is sheer brilliance and a class of its own that anyone can enjoy. While trekking, we witnessed the pristine clear view of majestic peaks like the Kedarnath, Panchchuli, Nilkanth, and even Nanda Devi.

The Chopta Chandrashila trail goes through paradise and you are marvelled at the scenic beauty of the place on each step. Be it the reflection of Chakumbha and adjoining mountains on Deoria Tal, the starry nights or the mountains basking in moonlight. On day 2 you go through forests blooming with rhododendrons and beautiful green meadows. The final trek to peak is majestic with walk through snow clad woods and elevated fields of snow. May is the time if you want greenery and December/January if you are looking for snow. Anybody fit enough to jog mile or two can take the trek.

We have trekked with two kids (4 and 8 years) and my parents (65 years) late Oct to beginning of November. Both days of trekking were really stunning, unforgettable beautiful views! We have rented the mule for our younger child first day which proved to be a smart decision and he went up all the way. The second day unfortunately being out of season there were no mules available so he only went part of the way... made it to the temple (the last part of the trek the Chandrashilla peak is quite steep and tricky and probably not for the little kids anyway)... It was very well organized, the Thrillophilia contact was always very helpful and the actual company who provided the treking very much also....the only tricky part was that the forest fee for the foreigners was not included (for the Indians it was) in the price even though it was written in the confirmation so that it something which should to be adjusted in the details! The Himalayan highway is being renovated so prepare for quite a bumpy and dusty ride above the scary cliffs!

Amazing experience. The trek was difficult to be honest but I challenged myself at each point to do a litlle better and be a little more! And what I saw along the way was very pleasant and peaceful so I was all motivated to complete this trek. It was serene and refreshing it. Only suggestion would be to carry lots of warm clothes.

After the Chandratal lake experience, this one simply blew me away. Very well-organized and safe trip. Everything was on point. The trek, food, accommodation, the place, everything was excellent. Couldn't have asked more when something is this well planned and executed.
