Rani Sui Lake Trek Starting Point: Lamadugh Trek Starting Point, Old Manali

End Point: Khaniyal, Manali

About the Rani Sui Lake Trek:

- Himachal Pradesh is a mystical tourist and adventure destination in the Himalayas, and one of the most beautiful pieces of attractions here are the many high altitude lakes here, including the mesmerizing Rani Sui Lake.

- Starting from Old Manali, you will first trek to the top of Lamadugh, the high altitude meadow. On the way, you will get mesmerizing views of the mountains Indrasan, Deo Tibba and peaks of Bara Shigri Glacier.

- The next day, you will start the final push towards the lake which lies at the height of over 11,000 ft. Watch amazing views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar Ranges, before returning to Duddu Thatch through forests of pine, maple, horse chestnut, and walnut. 

- On the last day, you will descend down into Khaniyal through forests of Pine, where the experience comes to an end.

Rani Sui Lake Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Manali – Lama Dugh (8 km | 4-5 hours | 9898 feet)
  • You will start by arriving at the starting point of the Lamadugh Trek and begin walking uphill.
  • On the way to the top, you will get some mesmerizing views of the mountains of Indrasan, Deo Tibba and peaks of Bara Shigri Glacier.
  • On the last climb, you will be crossing a ridge which finally lets you into the High Altitude Meadow.
  • Overnight in tents
Day 2
Lama Dugh – Rani Sui Lake – Duddu Thatch (11 km | 8-9 hours | 11154 feet)
  • After an early breakfast prepared by your guide, you will start the walk for the day, which starts to get steeper after about a km.
  • After a few hours, you will arrive at the Rani Sui Lake, from where you get amazing views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar Ranges.
  • Spend some time here before descending down to Duddu Thatch through meadows and forests of pine, maple, horse chestnut, and walnut.
  • Overnight at tents.
Day 3
Duddu Thatch – Khaniyal – Manali (3 km)
  • The descent today will take you through forests of pine to finally arrive at Khaniyal.
  • This where the experience will come to an end.

Know Before You Go for Rani Sui Lake Trek

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the trek. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
  • Pay heed to the trek guides and instructors in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
  • The Rani Sui Lake trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travelers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
  • Avoid using earphones during the Rani Sui Lake trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • In case, the Rani Sui Lake trek needs to be canceled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.

  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the Rani Sui Lake trek.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for the trek.
