Located by the Parvati valley, the little villages of Chalal and Tosh are known for their immense natural splendour, brimming with orchards, apple fields, stunning waterfalls and little cafes. The Chalal trek experience will introduce you not merely to the wonderful sights of Kasol, but also to the resplendent beauty of Chalal and Tosh, leaving you enthralled and asking for more. 

About Chalal Trek: 

Commencing from Kasol, this three-day trek covers all major tourist spots in Kasol, Chalal and Tosh. The Chalal trek trail first heads over to the village of Chalal, and then makes its way to Tosh from there. A two-hour walk from Kasol will bring you to trek, where you will be met with the happening hippie culture of the place.


The first day will be spent touring Chalal. The next morning, trekkers will head on over to Tosh, which is located at a height of about 7,800 feet.


The picturesque uphill trek, travelling across lush fields and by awe-inspiring waterfalls, promises some of the most beautiful views of the surrounding peaks. The night is spent camping in the wilderness of Tosh. The next morning, trekkers can enjoy a stunning sunset from the peaks of Tosh and then begin a downhill journey to Kasol again. 

Chalal Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Kasol - Chalal

The Chalal trekking tour begins with breakfast at the campsite in Kasol. Nestled just beside the river Parvati, this stunning meal-by-the-water will offer just the right amount of incentive spurring your desire to explore the rest of the city. After a filling breakfast begins the trek to Chalal.

The Chalal trekking route will first snake across the city of Kasol, with its bohemian cafes and souvenir shops, allowing trekkers to soak in the vibrant culture of the place. A two-hour walk will lead trekkers to Chalal. After spending a happening day touring the little village, trekkers will return to their campsite by the river in Chalal and close the day with a bonfire party and dinner.

Day 2
Kasol - Tosh

The second day of the Chalal trekking tour begins with a stunning sunset from Chalal. Following breakfast, the trekkers will prepare to make their way to Tosh, which lies at a height of about 7,800 feet above sea level.

The uphill route to Tosh is riddled with fantastic views of green pastures and orchard fields. At the entry of Tosh, trekkers will be met by the sight of a majestic waterfall, where they can sit around and enjoy the soothing sounds of the gushing waters. The night will end at a campsite in the forests of Tosh.

Day 3
Tosh - Kasol

Day three of the Chalal trekking tour commences with a beautiful sunrise view from the wilderness of Tosh. Following breakfast at the campsite, the trekkers will head on down to their initial spot in Kasol. Marvel at the beautiful scenery of the route as you make your way to Kasol, and leave with the promise to return to this land of enchanting beauty.

Know Before You Go for Chalal Trek

  • Carry multiple layers of clothing during the trek. Temperatures are generally low in the Kasol-Chalal region. Multiple layers would allow you to keep warm and also trek comfortably in the cold.
  • Carry a hiking or trekking stick to facilitate trekking
  • Carry all essential medication as well as medicine for vertigo, headaches and blood pressure.
  • Wear comfortable shoes while trekking, preferable hiking boots or covered sneakers
  • Do not litter the campsites at Tosh or Chalal, as hygiene is a top priority in the villages
  • Make sure not to demean or offend the culture of the villages
  • Carry a small first aid kit along with you, which will include things like antiseptic, band-aids, cotton and other essential items.
  • It is always advisable to carry insect repellant along, as the forests are prone to infestations
