Himachal Pradesh is definitely the first names that comes to mind when someone mentions a vacation in the Himalayas. A truly Himalayan abode, the state has many sights just waiting to dazzle you with their sheer brilliance and abounding beauty. And one of the lifelines of this state is the grand Beas river. Flowing through the state, Beas is a water sports hub, especially rafting which attracts a good number of visitors to the river every year. And one of the most adventurous activities that happen on the river is the Beas Kund Trek that takes you through the hills to the glacier that is the originating place for the river. Connected to the Indian Mythology, this Kund or lake is a scenic wonder in itself and takes a lot of courage and strenuous trekking to reach, with the end result being a view of the lake, the glacier and the barren mountains beyond it, forming one scenery that would forever sit on your shelf as a favorite memory. This activity takes you to the Beas Kund on a trekking expedition from the village of Dhundi. You will also be visiting the famous Solang Valley as that is the beginning part of the trek.
About the activity
You will arrive in Solang Valley and meet the guide at about 10:00 AM
The trek to Dhundi begins on the first day, carrying with you your packed lunch and dinner
At the end of the trek, you would have arrived in Dhundi, which is a beautiful spot with the river Beas flowing right beside it. Dhundi is also famous for an unbeatable view of the Hanuman Tibba
You will pitch your camps and enjoy a night of camping here.
The second day is when your Beas Kund Trek begins with a trek to Bakartach after breakfast. You will be carrying the meals for the day with you, packed.
The climb to Bakartach is a little strenuous yet rewarding at the same time. The campsite here is beautiful, beside the river and one of the best experiences ever.
You will notice the scenery changing around you as the vegetation keeps getting sparse and you can see the glacier from a distance.
After about walking for 4 hours, you will arrive at the Beas Kund, a lake with strikingly blue waters surrounded by high mountains and on occasions, purple wildflowers.
After spending a short while on the bank of the lake and taking pictures here, you will trek back down to the campsite in Dhundi
This morning after breakfast, you will trek your way back to the Solang Valley to bring your trip to an end.
Once at Solang Valley, you can choose to take a bus or a shared taxi back to Manali, or can participate in any of the activities here on your own.
