This trekking package in India takes you to Bagini Glacier that towers at 14816 feet from sea level and gives you the opportunity to feast your eyes on the mighty Dunagiri, Changa Banga and Kalanka peaks.
Bagini Glacier trek will enable you to watch the picture perfect glacier flowing down northwards from the origin Changabang and Trishuli Peaks and also the river Bagini turning westwards. There, it will be joined by Dunagiri Glacier Waters flowing down from Purbi Dronagiri ridge. At the west, it will meet the Lampak stream and eventually going to join the Dhauli Ganga located in the north of Jumma Village.

About the Trek:
Here comes an eight-day Bagini Glacier trekking package with so much enthusiasm hidden in each day of your adventure. It starts from Joshimath and from there you will directly go to Jumma and Ruing Village. The meandering paths going up and down through a forest will take you to enjoy the magnificent beauty of Hathi Parvat, Ghori Parvat and Bhumial God Temple. Dronagiri Village with many ruins and inhabited will be a surprise.
Bagini Base Camp is the next stop on your trek resuming from Dronagiri Village which will open up many wonderful sights of the peaks, the meadows and the landscapes. Rishi Peak is the highly acclaimed peak you can witness on the way to the base camp. A concrete bridge over the Bagini Nala and the unwinding routes going through the rocks and boulder ridden path can be the perfect supporters of you. Longatulli is also a halt where you will be awe-struck with the amazing Satminal, Hardeul and Rishi Pahar views.
Bagini Glacier visit and watching the astounding serenity using the ample time you are provided with will be the best experience and retracing the path you reach the glacier will let you reach Ruing Village and then Joshimath where you can wind up the happy days of an adventurous trek.

8 kms Trek, Hathi Parvat, Ghori Parvat, Bhumial God temple
This day, ramble on a trail that is similar to the previous day. Enjoy a meandering path that goes up and down. The road also goes through a forest.
Along the way, feast your eyes on dreamy and snow-capped peaks of Hathi Parvat and Ghori Parvat. Reach the intriguing Dronagiri Village, in ruins and inhabited. You can pitch your tent at the outskirts of the village that is illuminated due to solar lights. If you choose, you can visit the Bhumial God temple close by. Witness the views of Bhumial God temple.
Dronagiri Village - Bagini Base camp (14, 711 ft) via Longatulli
Day 4 opens up many thrills with meandering pass, sight of Rishi peak, crossing a concrete bridge over the Bagini Nala, through rock and boulder ridden path. Stop for a bit at a grassy patch with a crystal clear stream passing by.
Next halt is at Longatulli camping ground, a 3 hours hike from Bagini lower camp site. Get refreshed with the views of mesmerising peaks such as Satminal, Hardeul and Rishi pahar. You can camp overnight either at the Bagini main base camp (further up the mountains) or Advanced Bagini base camp that has an unmarked trail leading up to it.
Base camp - Bagini Glacier (14, 814 ft) - Back to Base camp
Base camp -Ruing Village
A lighter day, follow the same route you took to reach the base camp. Descend for around 18 kms through Longatulli to reach Dronagiri Village and later Ruing Village. Set camp for the night at Ruing Village.
Ruing Village – Jumma - Joshimath
Take a descent of three hours to Jumma Village. From here you will be driven to Joshimath. It’s time to relax and recover from the trek. Night can be spent at one of the guest houses.
Transfer from Joshimath to Haridwar
You can take an early transport to Haridwar. If you wish, you can experience the charming town of Joshimath for a bit. This will mark the end of Bagini Glacier trek journey.

Just a view of the glacier will make you come here every year. It was my third trek to this glacier and this time, I did it with my old school friends .We enjoyed each and every moment of this 8 day trek experience.The trek difficulty is moderate ,but if you are a beginner than do the trek with experienced trekkers as it becomes challenging at various points.Overall it was a great experience for me and my friends.
What is the best time to go for Bagini Glacier Trek?
Summer and autumn are the best seasons to do Bagini Glacier trek. From early May to mid-June and from late September to mid-October are considered to be the suitable months with moderate climate and beautiful snow-capped peaks in the surrounding. It is always good to avoid monsoon time to do the trekking at Bagini Glacier.
What is the difficulty level of Bagini Glacier Trek?
Bagini glacier trek is considered to be a moderate to difficult trek which takes us to a height of about 14816 feet and through very tricky tracks and trails. Boulders, rock stones and narrow paths going through the villages and the forest range will become more stringent as you near the glacier. Regular exercises and suitable preventive care can make you conquer the routes easily.
What clothing or equipment do we need to carry from our side for this trek?
You are suggested to carry jeans or trekking pants, shirts or T shirts, windproof jackets, warm and thick fleece, woolen sweater, thermal inner wear, socks, scarfs, woolen gloves etc as clothing essentials to prevent the spine chilling cold weather at Kuari Pass. Comfortable trekking shoes, lightweight floater or sandals, raincoat, water bottle, caps and hats, sun glasses, torch, medicines, personal toiletries, comfortable backpack bag, waterproof covers or bags etc can be the essential equipment you can carry from your side.
Which type of shoes should I carry on the trek to Bagini Glacier?
Bagini Glacier trek offers a long trekking route and to complete the long stretches you would definitely need a comfortable trekking shoes. Avoid wearing sports shoe and get proper trekking shoes and try practicing wearing it before you come to do the trekking.
Can I have liquor or smoke while we're on the trek?
No. Usually all travel agencies and trekking agencies prohibit the use of alcohol and cigarettes on any type of trek. Since both these activities can let your body dehydrate easily. Then you will find it very difficult to complete the stretches. Alcohol will open the pores in your skin and let the cold get inside and make the body temperature in terms with the temperature outside. But it will finally lead you to feel dehydrated and thirsty.
How is Bagini Glacier Trek weather?
In summer and autumn, the weather at Bagini Glacier is comfortable and moderately cold. From April to June, day temperature will be between 15 and 20 degree Celsius and at night it comes to the lowest of -2 degree Celsius. From September to October, the day time will have a temperature ranges between 15 to 10 degree Celsius and at night it will be from 5 to -5 degree Celsius.
Is Diamox is advisable?
Yes, to prevent Acute Mountain Sickness or simply altitude sickness, Diamox is a must medicine you should have handy. You will be reaching a height of about 15000 feet and it will be great if you have 10-12 diamox tablets with you to avoid the uneasiness happens due to acute mountain sickness.
How do I get in shape?
A proper cardio vascular structure is needed for doing Bagini Glacier trek since you might cross streams, bridges and boulder filled trekking routes and gradual climbs through forest ranges, high altitude landscapes and rough terrains. For making your lungs work properly during the trek and get oxygen intake smooth, then you need to follow some exercises that will help your cardio vascular systems function properly. Start with jogging every day and daily increase the distance and speed. Simple exercises like squats, skipping, swimming will also be perfect for your muscles and flexibility. Stretching exercises can also be of use while perfecting your body to do this trek.
What are washroom/toilet facilities like on the trek?
There will be separate toilet tents arranged at each campsite for men and women. Depending on the size of the group, the number of toilets varies. Toilet tents will have a deep pit, mound of soil and a shovel to cover it up. All of them usually will be dry toilets where you have to use toilet papers alone. Room freshener will also be provided.
What kind physical fitness will be required to do Bagini Glacier Trek?
You are expected to be in a good physical condition to do this trek since Bagini Glacier trek is considered to be a moderate to difficult trek. Before the start of the trek, you will need to jog for 4 kilometers and the weather conditions will be unfavorable to your body. But you need to be prepared to cross the thin air and proceed each climb carrying your backpack. Hence the physical fitness is very important. Start jogging one month prior to the trek covering 4 kilometers every day and thus make your lungs strong. Also, flexibility of your muscles and tendons to relax are also important and you can do stretching exercises regularly. Thus, you can come to a proper physical fitness to do this trek.
