Overview

Spiti Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh is one of the most pristine and untouched regions of beauty in the Himalayas. And amongst so many different and serene locations here, the best and most known and coveted is the beautiful lake of Chandratal. Located at a height of about 4300m above sea level, the lake derives its name from its shape of the crescent moon. 

Covered from both the sides by the high hills, the calm waters of the lake form a mirror-like surface, reflecting the snowcapped peaks around. And one of the best ways to explore the Spiti region is taking a safari of the region, just like this tour that starts from Old Manali and takes you all the way to Chandratal in Spiti. 

You will be starting on your way to Chhatru, which falls on the way to Kaza from Manali. You would have to cross the famous Rohtang Pass and into the Chandra Valley, which will be your stay for the night. This is where you will move towards the fabled lake the next day, After spending an amazing time there, you would return to your stay for the night and then return to Manali the next day.

About the Activity:
- The tour starts with your arrival at the meeting point, from where you will start riding in the vehicle towards Chhatru. 
- Arrive in the valley and stay overnight. Start the safari the next day as you move towards the Kunzum Pass, slightly before the top of the pass, take a narrow dirt road and arrive at the lake.
- Spend some time here witnessing the mirror-like lake in the Himalayas. You will stay in tents near the lake for the night.
- You will then start the next morning for Manali, where upon arrival, you will bring the experience to an end,

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Manali to Chhatru (80kms | 3 hrs)

    Arrive at the starting point in Manali on the allocated time and occupy your seat in the vehicle.

    Start riding towards Chhatru, which lies 80 kms away from Manali and across the Rohtang pass.The village is right on the mouth of the Chandra Valley, so you will find it to be really beautiful.

    Overnight at camp in Chhatru.

  • Day 2 - Chhatry- Batal- Chandratal (40km | 2 hrs)

    After breakfast in the morning, you will start your ride towards Batal, and then move onto the road that leads to Kunzum Pass.

    Right before the top of the pass, you will be taking a turn on a narrow dirt road, which will take you to Chandratal, which is just 14 kms away from here.

    Spend some time looking at the majestic lake before retiring for the night here.

  • Day 3 - Chandratal - Manali (50km | 2hrs)

    After breakfast in the morning, you will be leaving for Manali.

    As you reach in Manali, the experience will come to an end.
