How to Reach Manali:

By Road: Manali is well connected to Delhi. Take an overnight bus from Delhi and you will reach Manali in 12 ‐ 14 hours (approx 540 km).

By Train: The nearest Railway station is Joginder Nagar railway station 163 km from Manali.

By Air: The nearest airport is Kullu Manali Airport in Bhuntar is 50 Kms. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali, which costs about Rs.700‐ Rs.1,000.

Hampta Pass Trek, Manali Itinerary

Day 1
Drive from Manali to Jobra; Trek from Jobra to Chika | Walk Through the Lush Green Forest

Trek Distance: 2 Kms | Duration: 2-3 Hours | Elevation: 10,100 ft

  • Arrive at Manali, Meet our representatives here.
  • After a wholesome breakfast at Manali, you will drive to Jobra from where the Hampta pass trekking originates.
  • At this transfer point, receive a briefing from your trip leader and gear for an easy ascent to Chika.
  • It's an easy trek to the Chika campsite on the banks of Rani Nallah, a trek that walks you into a mixed forest of pine, green maple and birch trees.
  • With the mesmerizing topography of the Himachal coming into play, you barely realize the climb.
  • While trekking, walk along with River Rani who introduces the surroundings of big rocky hills in absolute splendour.
  • Enjoy an overnight stay and dinner at the tents in Chika.


Day 2
Chika to Balu ka Ghera | Stay at the Stunning Campsites

Trek Distance: 6 Kms | Duration: 5 Hours | Elevation: 11,900 ft

  • Enjoy the scrumptious breakfast and leave from Chika campsite to Balu ka Ghera.
  • Feel the reality of being in the Himalayan region as you catch the first glimpse of the outer Himalayan chain of mountains as the Dhauladhar ranges begin to appear.
  • Commonly referred to as The White Range, you’ll notice the mighty towers occupy the entire frame with meadows and flower-filled valleys dotted for company.
  • Arrive at Balu ka Ghera and settle down at this base for the day, have lunch, and spend the rest of the time.
  • Admire the surreal beauty, losing yourself in an ambiance that will take your breath away.
  • Have your dinner and rest up in the camps at Balu ka Ghera.


Day 3
Balu ka Gera to Siagoru and crossing Hampta Pass | Panoramic Views of Snow Clad Mountains

Trek Distance: 7 Kms | Duration: 8 Hours | Elevation: 14,100 ft

  • Wake up in the lap of mountains this day is where you get to experience the barren landscape of the Himalayas in the Lahul and Spiti Valley.
  • Such a variety in one region is what makes the Hampta Pass Trekking most attractive especially among amateurs.
  • Start your day with a steep ascend till the Pass, One can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view from the top and then, descending towards the next campsite.
  • Discover the serene calmness that surrounds the valley, you might meet shepherds at this high altitude pass who visit the valley to nourish their sheep with the special grass that grows around the area.
  • After a brief stopover at Hampta village, which gives the pass its name, you’ll begin the descent to the base camp at Siagoru.
  • After coming back to Siagoru rest up overnight at Siagoru


Day 4
Trek from Siagoru to Chatru, drive to Chandra Tal and return Chatru | Confluence of Three Passes

Trek Distance: 3 Kms | Duration: 4 Hours | Elevation: 11,000 ft

  • Wake up to the lovely view of Himalayas, after breakfast, begin an easy descent through the Hampta Valley.
  • Find the group of Pir Panjal ranges of the inner Himalayan circle that appear ahead of you.
  • This dominating landscape trails along with you all through Spiti till you arrive at the base camp at Chatru.
  • Post your brief interaction head to Chatru, a confluence of three paths – Hampta Pass, Spiti, and Rohtang Pass, this green paradise in the barren cold desert is like a breath of fresh air.
  • You’ll drive to Chandratal, a moon-shaped alpine lake located at an altitude of 4250m is one of the most enchanting lakes in this region, it is here that you’ll fall head over heels in love with the Himalayas.
  • Find yourself become one with nature as the lake’s placid waters throw open a vista of reflections of the enveloping Himalayan peaks.
  • Have your dinner and spend overnight at Chatru.


Day 5
Drive from Chatru to Manali via Atel Tunnel | End of the Journey with Memories
  • Wake to the sound of moon shaped lake, it is the day when your Hampta pass trekking adventure comes to an end.
  • After breakfast, traverse through the famous Atal tunnel, the longest highway single-tube tunnel above 10,000 feet
  • Arrive at Manali and disperse for your journey with a bag full of memories.

Know Before You Go for Hampta Pass Trek, Manali

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the trek.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • In case, the trek needs to be cancelled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.
  • Guidelines issued by the State-Government is to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained. Frequent hand sanitisation and use of mask recommended.
  • Please provide a valid ID at the time of check-in.
  • The exact location will be shared with you post-booking.
  • Professional guide(s) are available to ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek.
  • Neat and clean vehicle for the journey with experienced driver especially for hilly terrains available.
  • All the activities depend upon the weather.
  • Camping is very basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travellers littering may be fined.
  • Pay heed to the trek leader and guide in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for Hampta Pass trek.
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the Hampta Pass trek package.
  • Itineraries are based on information available at the time of planning and are subject to change. "Thrillophilia'' reserves the right to change expedition dates, people or itineraries as conditions warrant If a trip must be delayed or the itinerary changed due to bad weather, road conditions, transportation delays, government intervention, airline schedules, sickness, or other contingency for which Thrilllophilia or its agents cannot make provision, the cost of delays and/or other changes are the responsibility of the participant. Thrillophilia reserves the right to decline, or accept, any individual as a trip member for any reason whatsoever.
  • Liability for change in itinerary due to reasons beyond our control like a change in flight and train schedule, cancellation of flights/1trains, political disturbances, natural phenomenon, roadblocks, etc. will not be accommodated in the package cost. No bill will be reimbursed for any missed service/facility.
  • During a trip, in case the roads are blocked due to landslides or a reason that is beyond control, Thrillophilia will rearrange the itinerary for the travellers real-time, however, the cost of alternative accommodation will be borne by the customer as the hotels pre-booked execute their cancellation policies and are nonrefundable.
  • Because of any reason natural or personal, if the Trek or a particular activity is not completed, no refund will be processed.
  • The difference in the cost shall be borne by the client in case of any amendment in the package due to change in the number of guests, hotel change, itinerary change, etc.
  • If in case any traveller wants to or decides to leave the trip in the middle, all the expenses from that point onwards will be borne by the traveller. Neither the operator nor Thrillophilia will be held responsible for such decisions or for any refund.
  • The refund or compensation is also not issued if for any reason you have to come down from the trek. The trek leader may send you down from the trek, owing to reasons like lack of fitness, AMS, blood pressure, turn-around-time, health issues, or if you are found smoking/ drinking, or breaking the rules of the trek. refund or compensation are issued only when the whole trek is cancelled or called off on behalf of Thrillophilia.
  • At Thrillophilia, we almost never call off or cancel our treks. But in the rare event we might have to call off or cancel a trek due to any unforeseen natural catastrophes like continuous rain or snow, thunderstorms, snowstorms, landslides, floods, earthquakes, or any other natural calamity or other issues like local riots, curfews, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders, or any such situations that might prevent a safe trekking experience. In such cases, Thrillophilia will issue a Credit note summing up to the same amount as your trek fee that can be redeemed on any of the treks over a period of the next year.
