Nagarahole
This sanctuary has had the history of being a favourite hunting spot for the kings of Mysore.

223 km from Bangalore is Nagahole, a wildlife sanctuary where an animal lover can feel right at home. Spread in a sprawling 284 kms, it is better known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park. Nagarhole river curls up in the forest, gushing and rushing across the stony backgrounds and providing a lush green cover to the entire forest. Look forward to catching glimpses of tigers, elephants, peacocks, boars, bisons, etc. One can spot more than 300 bird species, a delight for nature/bird lovers, from white-cheeked barbet, nilgiri fly catcher, blue face malkhoa, oriental scoops owl and even short eared owl. Nagarhole is also one of the largest habitats for the pious Asiatic Elephants. The Brahmagiri mountains are popular amongst trekkers and is perfect destination for trekking in nagarhole . But to climb those hills one needs permission from the forest authorities. The best time to visit this place is in the summer season.
