About Seven Sisters Waterfalls

Located somewhere along the Gangtok - Lachung highway, the Seven Sister Waterfalls, true to its name, is a harmonious array of seven different cascading falls. If a single raging waterfall leaves you speechless, imagine what a cluster of seven such waterfalls will do. Its mellifluous roar is audible, and plummeting silver streaks can be seen from far off. The spot is a must-visit for couples exploring the region, and is often a highlight in many Sikkim honeymoon packages, thanks to its dramatic scenery and romantic atmosphere

The place springs to life fully during the monsoons, when the waters come raging down. Tumbling down from atop a lush green, wooded hill, the surrounding beauty of the waterfall enhances the beauty of it all. Many Gangtok tour packages include a stop here, making it easy for travellers to witness this natural marvel. The place promises you an album full of wallpaper-worthy photographs too! It is truly one of the most beautiful places to visit in Lachung.

Seven Sisters Waterfalls FAQs

Why are they referred to as the Seven Sister Waterfalls?

The name is derived from the seven individual streams of water that flow down the cliff in close proximity to one another, forming a breathtaking view that resembles seven sisters flowing together in harmony.

When is the best time to visit the Seven Sister Waterfalls?

The waterfalls look their best in the monsoon months (June to September) when the flow of water is maximum and the greenery around is thick and vibrant.

Are Seven Sister Waterfalls included in Gangtok or Lachung?

Though situated on the Gangtok-Lachung road, the falls are easily accessible from Gangtok and are usually a part of both Gangtok and Sikkim holiday packages.

Do I have to pay an entry fee or are there timings to see the waterfalls?

No, there is no entry charge to see the waterfalls. The location is open to visitors during the day, but daylight is the best time for photography and safety.

Is this a suitable destination for group travel?

Yes. The place is secure, scenic, and suitable for all age groups, making it often part of Sikkim group tours, particularly for nature and photography enthusiasts.

Can a trip to the Seven Sister Waterfalls be enjoyed by families?

Absolutely. This place is perfect for family picnics and nature walks and is often included in Sikkim family tour packages, offering a wonderful mix of relaxation and adventure.

What should I choose between a Sikkim tour package for 7 days and a Sikkim tour package for 5 days?

If you have ample time, a 7-day Sikkim tour package allows you to discover Gangtok, Pelling, and North Sikkim in a leisurely manner, covering the main sites and offbeat attractions.
