Birch Memorial Clock TowerBirch Memorial Clock Tower is a beautiful white and black structure which was constructed in 1909 as a memorial for J.W.W.Birch, who was the first resident in the city. Birch was assassinated by Datuk Maharaja Lela, a local chief in 1875. On the top of the tower are four whitewashed figures, symbolizing the four virtues of British government. Underneath the figures are large murals depicting forty four iconic figures from the history of the world including Buddha, Shakespeare, and Darwin among others. The tower has a large 6 feet and 6 inches bell along with four other smaller bells.
Highlights: The area is nice to take a walk after breakfast or lunch and click photographs. You can also visit the nearby attractions like Rose Centre.
Location: The clock tower is located in Kinta District, Ipoh, just about half kilometres away from the Ipoh Railway Station.
