Hampi (archeology)

Hampi in India is both a religious as well as a historical place. It is situated 350 kms from Bangalore and 190 km from Belgaum. Hampi as an archeological grandeur has too many things at display. It has several temples in its vicinity that boast of architecture that is exquisite and unique. Like in the Hemakuta Hill temples, the Vijaynagar style of architecture is evident. Also the Kadalekalu Ganesha which is a big statue of elehant headed Ganesha at a height of 4.6 metres, the massive structure lies on top of the Hemakuta hills. Stop by Sasivekalu Ganesha, another statue of Ganesha where the potbelly of the god is shaped like mustard and the statue is a fine example of Vijarnagar style. The Krishna temple dedicated to the Lord Krishna in the incarnation of Lord Vishnu is also a beautiful example of spectacular architecture. Hazara temple, Elephant Stables and Pattabhirama temple that all have some unique style of architecture that would keep the visitor interested. The best time to be here is in the months from October to February.
