About Yamato Museum

After World War II, Kure changed from a naval town to a leader in the marine industry. Hence, the museum has a one-tenth-scale model of the battleship Yamato that was built using real plans and research. You can also see wartime artefacts like a Zero Fighter plane and a human torpedo Kaiten.

Interactive exhibits in the museum let you try ship-handling simulators and learn about shipbuilding technology. Moreover, the Yamato Theater shows films on space and naval history, while a viewing terrace offers great views of Kure Port. Therefore, the museum helps you understand history, learn about war and peace, and explore the shipbuilding future of Japan.
