The lake located in the park is a nice spot to go swimming and play football. The park also has a garden for the blind which is located in the park's southernmost area. One of the top attractions at the park is its northwesternmost section is home to an incredible planetarium.

The City Park Freilichtbühne is also located in the park which is an outdoor theater that is known to host movies and concerts on warm summer evenings. The church's tower was again destroyed during the allied bombing raids on Hamburg which was called Operation Gomorrah in July 1943.
