Palace of Parliament Overview

Originally known as the "House of the Republic", the Palace of the Parliament is among the most spectacular sights to see and is also counted in the list of best places to visit in Romania. It is a massive structure, and is one of the largest administrative buildings in the whole world. The Palace has 12 floors and over 1000 beautifully designed rooms.

Originally built under the dictatorship of Nicolae Ceauseșcu, this is a massive project that is today among the most important places to visit in Romania. Rich in Romanian history, this place is extensively decorated with embroidered carpets, patterned ceilings, handwoven drapes and marvelous marble floors.

It was initially built as a protective measure from nuclear attacks and thus comprises eight underground levels including an atomic bunker apart from the 12 stories above ground. Standing tall as a reminder of the communist rule, this palace hosts the Parliament of Romania today. You can also see the famous National Museum of Contemporary Art here. Being one of the most important tourist spots in the city, you can also take a guided tour of the famous building that will give you a chance to learn more about the rich past of this place.
