Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve is a wetland and is listed in the biosphere reserve by UNESCO. It is an important wildlife sanctuary and it is characterized by mangrove forests and many rare species. The Reserve gives the opportunity to carry out advanced environmental protection ranging from coastal areas to the boundaries of the city. Mangrove dwelling invertebrates along with fish and shellfish can be found here. In the recent times, it has become a popular point of attraction and it is said to be the green lungs of the city.
