Where is Kanchenjunga?
The third highest mountain peak in the world, Kanchenjunga is the eastern part of the great Himalayas. It lies in the periphery of Sikkim in India, eastern Nepal and touches the boundaries of Bhutan and Tibet too. One could hike up the various peaks and slopes of Kanchenjunga from either Nepal or India.
Both these countries house base camps to take trekkers on the expedition to the mountain and experience the exotic species of flora and fauna it possesses. Also, Kanchenjunga has the river Tamur in its west and river Teesta in its east. And in its north, it has the Lhonak Chu and Jongsand La which are one of the hilly sections of the mighty Himalayas.

If geographically considered, the main, central and south peaks lie inside the borders of the North Sikkim area of the Indian state, Sikkim. Whereas the other two, west summit and Kangbachen lies in the borders of Nepal. Only around 20-25 people climb the highest peak of Kanchenjunga whereas in 2019, 34 people attempted to reach up to the summit of Kanchenjunga.
If you are residing in India, you can trek through the slopes of Kanchenjunga in around 8 days of trekking. You must start your trekking from the base camp Yuksom in Sikkim. It is situated at a distance of around 124.7 KM from the capital city of Sikkim, Gangtok. You can cover this distance in around 5 hours and 15 mins by driving. From Yuksom, the real expedition begins.
For the second possibility of you being in Nepal, there are two options for the base camps to explore the terrains of Kanchenjunga namely, North Base Camp on Kanchenjunga Glacier and South Base Camp on Yalung Glacier. You can reach any of these base camps from a town called Suketar which has a great flight connectivity with Kathmandu to make your adventure smoother.
