Situated in Uttarakhand, Chamoli is one of the best hill areas you will come across in the country. The mountain district is home to several mountain ranges, valleys, meadows, streams, dense woods etc. Trekking tours in Chamoli are known to be the best in the state of Uttarakhand. On an average, the trekking tours last from four days to about ten days. You will cover some of the most interesting mountain passes and challenging mountain terrains. The Roopkund trekking expedition, which takes about eight days and seven nights, takes you all the way to the glacial Roopkund Lake. Located at 16,499 feet, the lake is in the lap of Mount Trishul. The lake is famous because of the human skeletons that are at the bottom of the lake, which are visible when the snow melts away in the summer. The route to the Roopkund Lake is very fascinating, the journey takes you through rhododendron and oak forests, where you will be camping on your way up. All the camping amenities will be provided to you, but you must carry some of the more essential items with you, such as medicines, dry fruits, some beverages etc.
You can also trek to the Valley of Flowers, which takes six days and five nights. This trek is no less than a fairy tale because of the blossoms in the entire valley. There are streams that are lined with these flowers. You will see some of the best snow-laden mountains in the background with these blossoms filling the entire valley. You will also come across some endangered species of animals here. The famous Asiatic black bear, brown bear, snow leopard, blue sheep etc can be seen. Some of the other trekking expeditions in Chamoli are the Winter Kuari Pass trek, Hemkund Sahib trek, Pangarchulla trek, Chandrashila trek etc.
