Head out to explore the small market town of Worksop, one of the most offbeat tourist places to visit in Sheffield. Located on the river Ryton, this coal mining town is a perfect place for a weekend retreat, and also offers visitors a chance to indulge in different activities, from live music and art, to hiking and more. 

Popular for being a coal mining town, and later on, a market town in the region, Worksop, located around 17 miles to the southeast of the centre of Sheffield, is one of the most offbeat and tranquil places to visit here. Regardless of its small size, the town offers visitors a wide array of things to do and attractions to explore. These include the Circle Arts Centre and Worksop Priory, which are popular venues to enjoy art performances, and live music. 

Other attractions here include the Clumber Park, which is home to one of the longest glasshouses in all of England, and boasts of vast areas of parkland, farms, woods and more, perfect to enjoy nature walks and camping in. The town also has a rich history, as it was once the home of the Dukes of Newcastle, and housed the Gothic Revival Chapel, and Victorian walled gardens. You must also visit the Mister Straw’s House here, and catch sights of age-old Victorian furniture, family memorabilia and other artefacts.
