It’s the ship-shaped building of the first branch of the design museum of V&A in the United Kingdom. The unique architectural design of its building was proposed by the internationally acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The iconic building of the museum extends into the river Tay, thus building a connection between the city and its beautiful riverside. The design museum has been listed amongst the most creative places to go in Dundee, it has a wide range of collections related to architecture, fashion, video games, healthcare, furniture and much more.
The museum holds upto 300 exhibits of V&A’s famous art, design and performance collection. Besides the extensive collection, it also showcases various programmes that touch upon the themes of sustainability, culture and cosmopolitanism. The highlighted part of the museum though is the large horizontal hollow part designed in the building connecting Union Street, which runs through the centre of Dundee, with the beautiful river. Visitors enjoy spending hours in the haven of peace of this unique hall.
