Overview

Trek through the Kuari Pass or popularly known as Lord Curzon Trail, which allows you to relish the undulating nature prevailing in the region along with snow-capped mountains. Encircled by gorgeous forest, mesmerizing sunsets, and sunrises, the Kuari Pass trek will surely pull your heartstrings. Wonderful views of the four peaks of Neelkanth, Trishul, Nandaghunti, Nanda Devi, Dunagiri, and the challenges make it a trek worth all the effort. 


Your hilltop camping during this trek is altogether going to be an experience with a spectacular backdrop of the rugged Himalayas. Explore the trail in an offbeat way by getting familiar with local cuisine and culture. Capture more about the life of the locals, and blend with the shepherds to know more about their mountainous life.

About the trekking experience:

  • The Kuari Pass is the trek to do if you are stepping into the Himalayas for the first time. It's almost ideally made for a novice.
  • Bask in the glory of the Himalayas at 12763 ft. with snow-capped ranges, quaint villages, rich Himalayan meadows during this 34 KM trail. 
  • The best season to take this adventure trek is mid-December to early March over thick snow layers that accentuate the beauty of the peaks. 
  • You are most likely to come across the leopard or Himalayan black bear pugmarks as you trek through the narrow, tricky path and gushing water.
  • Start your trek from snow-capped meadows of Auli and camp in the scenic forested estate of Tali.
  • Continue your picturesque journey through misty oak and rhododendrons woods to Khulara, and camp for the night under the cluster of stars.
  • Climb at an altitude of more than 12000 ft. soak in panoramic vistas of great Himalayan peaks including the famous Nanda Devi as you reach Kuari Pass
  • The security and comfort of trekkers are our utmost priority. This is reflected in the conduct of treks through courteous and qualified staff, quality of equipment, hygiene, and regard for nature and the outdoors.
  • Stay in high-quality and comfortable alpine/dome tents on double/triple/quad sharing basis. All tents come with necessary amenities and maintain utmost hygiene.
  • Delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the package throughout the trek. While here, do not miss out trying a few local Garhwali dishes.

Itinerary

Day 1
Rishikesh to Joshimath (Drive 280 Km) | Altitude: Joshimath 6724 ft
Joshimath
  • Depart from Rishikesh early in the morning (6:30 am) and steer toward Joshimath in a Tata Sumo or a similar vehicle.
  • Also known as Jyotirmath it is the winter seat of Lord Badri, whose idol is brought down from Badrinath temple to Narsingh Temple at Joshimath.
  • The journey should around approximately 10 hrs. It is indeed a little strenuous yet stunning scenic mountain drive.
  • The entire journey traverses the mountainside, with the river flowing below you. (You are lucky to be a spectator of the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers at Devprayag)
  • We'll reach Joshimath by the evening (around 5 pm) where you will be served evening tea followed by a short briefinging about the trek.
  • Take rest and later have your dinner.
  • Overnight stay in a homestay in Joshimath.
Day 2
Drive from Joshimath to Dhak to Gulling Top | Altitude: 9600 ft | Distance 12 km drive and 5 km trek.
Gulling Top
  • Depart from Joshimath early in the morning after a scrumptious breakfast to reach Dhak village.
  • Prepare yourself to indulge in a trekking trip to Gulling Top crossing Dhak Village, Tugasi Village etc.
  •  The trek to Guling takes around 3 hours. The trail in spite of being uphill throughout the way is visually pleasing and stunning enough to forget about the exhaustion.
  • Upon reaching your campsite, have your lunch.
  • Spend the rest of the time exploring around and taking some rest.
  • Stay overnight in the tents.
Day 3
Trek from Guling to Khullara Top | Altitude: 11,122 ft Trek : 6 Km.
Khullara Campsite
  • Up, Uppity Up! As we gear up for the most riveting day. The trek will be mildly steep and it ascends throughout the way to Khullara.
  • The trail passes through the intense forest of oak, rhododendron (mostly pink and white), walnut forest conifer, and miniature gushing streams on the way invoking the emotion of tranquility.
  • Upon reaching the campsite, have your lunch.
  • Spend the rest of the time enjoying the picturesque beauty of the surroundings at the campsite.
  • Post dinner, stay overnight in tents.
Day 4
Khullara to Kuari Pass to Khullara | Altitude: 14,700 ft. Trekking12 km
Kuari Pass Trek
  • Post breakfast, start your trek to Kuari pass.
  • The initial trail starting from Khullara is steep thereon the path goes on the mountain ridge and reaches the top through a snow patch.
  • From the top, get all geared up for the divine views of the mighty Himalayas. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Dronagiri, Chitrakantha, Chaukhamba and Tali.
  • We'll reach Khullara by afternoon where lunch will be served.
  • The rest of the day is at leisure.
  • The travelers are encouraged to share their experiences.
  • We love to hear travel stories! Later dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay.
Day 5
Khulara to Joshimath | Altitude: 6,724 Trekking 11 km trek and 12 km drive
Joshimath
  • Breakfast will be served early in the morning, after which you will start your journey to Joshimath.
  • Have your lunch on the way.
  • Reach Joshimath by late afternoon.
  • Have your evening tea followed by a debriefing session.
  • The rest of the evening is free for leisure.
  • Have your dinner and call it a day.
  • Overnight stay in Joshimath.
Day 6
Joshimath to Rishikesh | 8 hours drive
Rishikesh
  • Post breakfast group will depart for Rishikesh with your heart and soul full of memories.
  • Your tour concludes once you are dropped at Rishikesh. (approx 255 kms drive)
  • Note: On Day 6, you’ll reach Haridwar between 6 pm and 7 pm. You can book your travel any time after 8 pm.

  • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travellers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
  • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • In case, the trek needs to be cancelled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.
  • Guidelines issued by the State-Government is to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained. Frequent hand sanitisation and use of mask recommended.

  • Camping is very basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the package.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for this trek.
