About the Destination:
Located at an elevation of around 3,660m, the Chandrakhani Pass makes it for an astounding trek experience in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Originating from the scenic Naggar settlement, which is located around 21km from Manali, the trail that leads to the pass is known for its enchanting beauty and appeal.
From the pass, one can enjoy the fantabulous views of the Deo Tibba, Parbati, and Pir Panjal peaks. Also, jotted with luscious groves of pine, deodar, golden oak and cherry, this pass boasts as one of the most scenic and pictorial passes in the country.

Pick up from Patlikhul/Naggar and drive till the starting point of the trek. An uphill trek starts from the village through the beautiful meadow. Initially a steep ascend through pine, Oak and bircg trees and then a gradual ascend ona grassy pastures to reach at Chaklani camp. Chaklani commands an enchanting view of Kullu valley and peaks of Dhauladhar Range. Overnight camp at Chaklani.
Initially a steep ascend through a carpet of high altitude flower field to reach the top of Chanderkhani Pass – which is covered with snow till end of May , a heaven for nature lovers. The Pass overviews a wide and panoramic view of PIR PANJAL, DHAULADHAR ranges and PARVATI VALLEY. Traverse the ridge and get down to the beautiful camp at Chaklani. Overnight at Chaklani.
Descend down to the base camp Naggar through the beautiful meadows and the forest of Oak and Pine and old villages of Kullu valley. Upon arrival at the base camp, check out and proceed to Manali by local cab. Arrive at Manali by afternoon. Check into the hotel. Day at leisure and relaxation. Overnight stay at Manali.

Few months ago, two of my friends and I were just looking for a small vacation break and wanted to visit the North region of India. As we were a beginner, we were looking for trips with average difficulty. Taking a chance in the unknown, we went ahead to book the Chanderkhani Pass from Thrillophilia. Since this was our first trip into the mountains, we were both, nervous and excited. On reaching there, we did few activities including rappelling and acclimatization walk. The scenic beauty from the base camp was superb as we could see the mountains covered with the snow. The excitement to reach there doubled after that. Day one ended on a good note after we were given a brief orientation about the next three days. We started for the Chanderkhani pass on Day Two. As we were marching towards the Naya Tapru camp, we saw a lot of natural scenery including green hills, snowy mountains and small waterfalls. On reaching there, we had our dinner and a born fire to end the day. Day three marked our marching towards the Chaklani Camp which was our last stop. From chaklani we marched towards the Chanderkhani Pass which was an uphill on snow. After an hour of ascend in the snow, we finally reached the peak of Chanderkhani. The view from this point was incomparable and totally worth watching. For descending, we did snow slides with the help of the guides which was a different fun all together. Taking the memories of the this few moments, we went back to the Chaklani camp. On Day four, we started to descend back to the base camp which was a journey of 4 hours. You will fall in love with this place while trekking in the mountains crossing the forests. You will be repeatedly pointed that you are alive. Camping was fun but the equipments were not what it was expected. A little disappointed on the management. The trip could have been better if the services were better but overall i would say it was a Good Trip.

By the time we reached the last leg of our trek which was the descend, all of us made such good friends that the entire route was disturbed by our silly jokes on each other. Our guide Sachin was somewhat our age and he talked about his life where he covers the same route in the Himalayan mountains most of the times but he never gets bored of the mountains. Chandrakhani pass trek is one such experience that I will never forget. We came across the many incomparable landscapes and I have got such good pictures in my DSLR

I had the best dinner at Nauya Tapru on the second day of our trek, after such a tiring journey if your cook makes up for the day with hot food on a chilly night, it is more of a privilege. The trek was undoubtedly tough and exhausting but having done it with Thrillophilia, there were porters, a cook and a guide who accompanied us and we hardly struggled with the weight and there is no comparison to the food you get at these camps, freshly cooked mountain veggies and ‘Bhaat.’ Chandrakhani pass trek is one of my favorites in the Himalayas.

Once in a while, such treks are needed which can break your body but boost your faith in yourself. This pass enables a chance to witness the Pir Panjal range, Deo Tibba peak and Parbati range in one line. This three-day trek starts from Rumsu and ends at Rumsu. After difficult trek uphill, it felt as if we attained Nirvana looking at the magical sight of snow-clad mountains. Great experience with team Thrillophilia while booking online. The food was good but was little spicy for me so I could not gulp enough to fill my stomach, seeing this my fellow trekkers asked about the problem and then almost everyone got something to eat out of their bags. Such sweet gestures. Loved this trek.

No matter how good or bad the arrangements were, once you get a mattress or a bed you fall asleep in seconds because of the tiredness and exhaustion. I loved waking up early in the morning and walking in the quiet environment.
What is the best time to go?
The best time to go for the Chandrakhani trek starts from April till May.
What is the level of fitness expected from the participants?
The fitter you are the more you'll take away from the experience. Take as much time as you can for cardio exercise and strength training, including core strength. This will make it far easier for you to trek and explore the terrain with your guide. Moreover, exercises aid in acclimatization for the trip. Experience of walking for long distances with heavy weights (at least 15 Kg) will be a useful preparation.
What are the clothing and equipments which I should carry at my end?
As the temperature is cold throughout the trek with the possibilities of rain, we recommend that you carry woolen clothes, which can be full sleeves woolen sweater, thermal inner wear, windproof jacket, etc. along with a raincoat.
How much weight will I have to carry? Will porters be there?
It is advisable to carry a 60L backpack, weight to be carried will depend on your requirements and capacity. Yes, porters will be there to carry your luggage at an extra cost.
Which type of shoes should I carry?
Please do not carry the normal sports shoes. As you need the good traction during the trek, shoes from Woodland or Forclaz 500 is a recommended choice.
What kind of food will be provided during this trek? What about safe drinking water?
All meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner and safe drinking water is provided throughout the trek.
Can I have liquor or smoke while we're on the trek?
