About Vila do Abraão

Vila do Abraão is the main village and entry point to Ilha Grande, a breathtaking island off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Surrounded by lush rainforest and crystal-clear waters, it serves as the heart of the island’s tourism, offering a mix of relaxation, adventure, and local culture. With no roads or cars, the village maintains a peaceful and eco-friendly atmosphere, where visitors can explore by foot or take boat trips to the island’s famous beaches and natural attractions.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, from hiking trails leading to stunning viewpoints and waterfalls to snorkeling and diving in vibrant marine ecosystems. Popular nearby spots include Lopes Mendes Beach, Blue Lagoon, and Cachoeira da Feiticeira. The village itself is filled with small restaurants, beachside bars, and shops selling handcrafted souvenirs.

Access to Vila do Abraão is free, but reaching the island requires a boat transfer from ports like Angra dos Reis or Conceição de Jacareí. Boats operate daily, with ticket prices ranging from R$20 to R$30 each way, depending on the departure point and type of boat. The journey takes between 15 minutes to an hour and a half.

The village has no specific opening hours, but its restaurants, shops, and tour agencies operate throughout the day. Whether you are looking for a quiet beach getaway or an adventure-packed trip, Vila do Abraão is the perfect base for exploring the natural beauty of Ilha Grande.
