i wish i could go this season also.. i went for chadar last year and when i was saw thrillophilia post today i thought i should write a review which will help this year travellers. guys please do all the preparations well. thats makes 80% things fine while doing the.. rest all and beyond thrillophilia and their operator will takecare. carry minimal lagguage but all neccessities, right clothing, energy bars, medical kit.. follow all instrutions of guides.. they are experienced and are from the Zanskar regions. our group had guides who had 18 years experience.. thrillophilia also gives guidelines before the trip follow them while doing preparations.. enjoy your trek.. click lot of pictures.. stay safe and be a responsible traveller.

had few hasstles in the begining.. pick up was bit delayed however Lotus bhaiya managed everything right from there. overall brilliant experience.. me and friends had good fun and memories for a lifetime.

Trek was crazy ..Hats off to the guide team.. they could manage it so well that none of us was worried.. briefing was good and they set our expectations right and from the start point we were all aligned. and i must say operator did a realluy good job.. thank you thrillo for making it all possible without a hasstle..

ok, i was waiting to head back and write this review. being a solo female traveller and chadar being my first trek (Yes you heard it right! ) i believe this will be useful for a lot of folks out there:Before writing about my experience, let me give you a glimpse of preparation you MUST DO, so that your excitement of Chadar will not turn disappointment. Physical fitness is very important. even though it is not hiking and just walking, we had to walk atleast 6 hours a day, that too on ice which makes it even more challenging. should be prepared well in advance and make sure you start building your stamina. Being from down south, i was never I was never exposed to extreme cold. One need to be prepared to take up that climatic condition. Change in your environment actually hits your health.. your body should adapt to thin air.. so be prepared with right clothing..clothing should be in layers as nights can go upto -35.. it is Body and hand warmers, thermal inners, gum boots, fleece jacket,Insulating Gloves, rain poncho, sunglass, good pairs of socks and buff/woollen cap.so the whole point is the right clothing is extremely important. you can search for more essentials on internet which will be helpful..Personal medical kit is mandatory. Please carry Thermal water bottles,Dispirit,cotton buds, a crepe bandage, wet tissues, Volini spray and hand sanitiser which is a must. To get a good grip on Ice, it is good to carry a trekking pole.. please Carry energy bars and dry fruits even though you will get nice hot food.. to carry all this a nice backpack too :P Even though this is not summing the MUST DO’s of Chadar let me lapse into DONT'S ...i would like to give a shout out to the trek leader, Sumod here.. he took up the entire ownership and was responsible enough t ask all the fellow trekkers not to litter the pristine trail. If you want to Chadar even after few years down the line, please do not litter.do not even think of exposing your hands/legs to cold directly for a long period. I did and suffered.. Frostbite sucks! Do not get panic if you get breathing problems.. give time for your body to acclimatise.Do not worry as the operators from Thrillophilia took care of such emergency situations really well.. Be good to the guides, they do a fantastic job to make sure the journey is as smooth as possible. I do not wanna mention the instance happened in my trip which made me write this.. but yeah its good to be nice to those people. Now me being crazy about this frozen trek and booking through Thrillophilia was the only RIGHT step i took.. I was not prepared even though Tarun from Thrillophilia used to remind me on all the preparations i need to take being a solo traveller.. I was casual about lot of things.. but trust me when I experienced Chadar N i understood how good is to get guidance from experts and its good for us to follow them.. If someone ask me how hard is chadar, its difficult to answer.. but to me the RIGHT THINGS to make Chadar experience good is the right preparations, right operator and a right platform.. The only worry when I set off for this trek was whether or not the groups will be female-friendly, because i was travelling alone. My friend from work recommended Thrillophilia to me & I booked it with tem for February 2, 2016.Needless to say how amazing the trek was, the group we went with was so friendly and I did not feel insecure/uneasy. People from across the country had joined in. Now have a snap of 15 of us together right below the frozen waterfall and I'm sure this is going to be a memory that i'll cherish forever!

Chadar Trek- I'd never imagined I'll go for it but i did. I never wanted to but my brother took me with him, Mind you- that's only because he had a spare ticket cuz one of his friend from the group backed out. I thought it requires trekking experience but to my surprise I managed it well, having no experience of trekking at all.You need to walk alot, so if you're physically fit you can go for it!The joy of reaching the end point & watching the frozen fall was Ah-Mazing! I'm glad my brother forced me for it for it gave a memorable experience!

I have always wished to go for Chadar Trek as this is the only frozen river trek in India, going to an altitude of over 13000ft. In 2015 I went for this trek with my colleagues & had the best experience so far! 10 Days of complete fun and awe-inspiring beauty left everyone of us amazed. Go for it, if you're an outdoor enthusiast, for you'll surely have an experience of a lifetime here!

Snow-clad mountains.. Quad-sharing tents.. hot-pahaadi food..One trek bringing together complete stranger groups all headed for the walk on the frozen river. I'm glad I took this up! Had a mind-blowing experience!

Pro tip for Chadar Trek- WEAR GUMBOOTS!We had no idea what all to carry. We had normal snow trekking shoes with us and had to face problems during the trek. We got some spare boots from other group members on the second day itself. Trekking in snow is not as easy as it seems as most of the people get frostbites. But the whole experience was so good. Once i a lifetime experience, indeed.

One thing i learnt from this trek to the Frozen River is that if you have an experience of trekking, you'll have a great time. But if not, it might be very uncomfortable at first. But having a good tour operator solves a lot of problems! We had 2 amateurs in our group who had difficulty in trekking at first, but thanks to the expert guides & porters of Thrillophilia who helped us through and we were all able to make it to the end without any difficulty.

One of the most difficult treks I've been to- Chadar Trek! If you're a trekker and walking on the snow mountains excite you, nothing can be a better option. But if you don't have a good operator, this could turn into a nightmare.Thankfully, ours were quite good. Infact every time we were about to reach the camp, the porters used to reach before us to prepare for food and other necessities. Kudos to Thrillophilia for their unparalleled services!

Chadar is very beautiful so guys be responsible when you are going for this trek. Don’t litter keep the river clean and guys please don’t pee in open. Make sure you don’t left any non-biodegradable substances back just leave your footprints.

I planned my Ladakh trip for 15 days when I booked Chadar trek. Initially 6 days I spent in sightseeing in Ladakh and in acclimatization which helped me during the trek as I didn’t face any dizziness while some of the trekkers had to take Diamox for not proper acclimatization. As it’s always good to go Leh 2-3 in advance spent time in acclimatization as well as you will see lot of beautiful sights in Ladakh.

I started trekking 3 years back and Chadar was always on my wish list. It was amazing experience of walking on ice sheet. Trek leader was very experienced as he was from zanskar region and had experienced of more than 6 years of Chadar trek. Food was very good and served hot all the time. You need to be very careful while walking on ice so it’s always good to follow your trip leader. It was an experience of lifetime.

I am happy to see many places which are very clean and the people have really maintained it well. We had some great time and would highly recommend this trek to all adventure seekers. Just make sure to keep yourself fit before you head out for this trek.

Most Amazing thing to watch out on Chadar is frozen Waterfall. It seems like heaven. Many people stand in fornt of that and click pictures. But it is advisable to DO NOT dance there as it will make you tired soon due to less oxygen level. Amazing view. Worth watcing out atleast a single time in your life. I m so glad that I have seen that.

Even though I couldn't complete my trek owing to my last moment health issues, but I crave to join the trek next year. I assure that I will complete the splendid Chadar Trek this time. The statement 'Survival of the fittest' holds truth and this I had realised during Chadar trek. To all the folks, planning to go to Chadar, please take utmost importance to your health.

Going on Chadar Trek and walking on the frozen Zanskar River turned out to be a pageturner in my life where I had learnt so many things. I've learned to deal with the cold, not physiologically but psychologically. Physiologically, my extremities hurt and it sucks.
