What is the Nag Tibba Trek Difficulty Level?
The Nag Tibba Trek is of easy to moderate difficulty and can be attempted by people with no prior trekking experience. The trek which is divided into two parts starts in Pantwari, a quaint village in the Garhwal district till the Nag Tibba base camp completing the first half.

From the base camp to the top of Nag Tibba is the second leg of the trek which is short and slightly steep. The overall trail of the Nag Tibba trek has a gradual ascent with gentle terrain and occasional steep areas.

Who can go for Nag Tibba Trek 

The trek is ideal for beginners who have not trekked on hilly terrains before. That being said, the Nag Tibba trail is enjoyed by seasoned trekkers just as much. Nag Tibba also known as 'Serpent's Peak' is the highest of the three ranges- Nag Tibba, Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal of the lesser Himalayas in the Garhwal region, giving the trekkers of any calibre an adventurous opportunity to climb the majestic mountains.

The reasons why Nag Tibba trek is perfect for beginners - the trek is of short duration compared to the other Himalayan treks. Depending on the route one takes, the complete trek and the trip will take 3-5 days. Another reason is the trail, one of the easiest treks in India; Nag Tibba is famous as a winter trek with no steep terrain and a thick layer of snow.

The route of the trek offers a wholesome experience of any longer Himalayan trek in just two days with Rhododendron forests, ample of natural beauty, snow (during winters) and the views of some of the highest Himalayan peaks.

How to prepare for Nag Tibba trek | Fitness level

Nag Tibba trek is somewhat a more easy trek, and one does not need special preparations to go on this expedition. However, like any other, the trek of the Himalayan mountain would require necessary prep such as packing plenty of warm clothes for the high altitude destination along with all the essentials such as hiking boots, first-aid kit, toiletries, water-bottle etc.

Besides packing for the right things, you should also work on your physical fitness by going on walks or slow jogs a week before leaving for the trek. It is more important if you are not consistent with workouts and might need to work on endurance for the trudge or the higher altitude of Nag Tibba.

Duration of the trek

One of the reasons why Nag Tibba trek should be your next adventure is its duration. The complete trek is 10 kms and would take one full day to finish. Nag Tibba trek commences in Pantwari, where you can get to from either Dehradun or Mussoorie.

After reaching Pantwari, one would take off for the first half of the trek to Nag Tibba base camp; it is a 7km long trek which takes around 5-6 hours to conclude. At the base camp, you can rest, appreciate the boastful surroundings and acclimatize their bodies for the remaining trek.

The next morning the trudge of the remaining 3km will continue, to get to the hilltop of Nag Tibba. The trek from the base camp to the peak will take approximately 3 hours to get to an altitude of 9,915 ft above sea level and another day to get back to Pantwari.

Best time for Nag Tibba Trek

The best months to visit Nag Tibba is from late September to March, while mid-November till February is perfect for the winter trek. Although Nag Tibba is splendid in every season, making it a year-round destination.
