The circuit of the KheerGanga trek is almost 12 km and the trails are steep on the entire route. You will have to walk for about 6 km for about 5 to 6 hours to reach the peak. It is at a distance of 40 km from Kasol that is the nearest spot for the trek and usually the base camp.
What to expect on the KheerGanga trekking route?
The Kheerganga trek can be done by two routes:
Via Barshani Village:
This is a small village with a limited number of places to eat & stay. The route diverges to Tosh from where you can head to the Kalga village passing through the dense thickets that will make your experience even more worthwhile.
Via Nakthan Village:
This is the other route for which you will have to take a left from the main bridge at Barshini and this is a shorter & more scenic route. If you are a trekker then this is a good trek for you but not a good choice for people with heart ailments.

- It is mandatory for you to carry the polybag and collect all the waste in it to ensure that the environment remains clean & beauty is intact.
- Equip yourself with a substantial amount of cash as there are ATMs only in Kasol & Parvati Valley that too run out of cash really quickly.
- If you are traveling by bus or any other local transport then you have to make sure you don’t select early hours as it will drop you at Bhuntar and there is no public transport facility from there in the morning.
- Visit Manikaran Gurudwara on the way back as it is a must-visit place.
- Keep a note of the weather as that is an important thing to check before you begin the trek.

The best months for the KheerGanga trek is from April to November as the weather is perfect for trekking. The main reason why Kasol and KheerGanga trek is popular is that it is accessible year-round and is closed only for a few months.
