How to plan your trip..??
For the trek to Brahmatal, you have to prepare yourself very well. The best route is by train, so book your tickets at least a couple of months in advance because trains to Uttarakhand are nearly filled all year round. From Kathgodam, you can either take a taxi to Lohajung, which will take you 3000-4000 INR, or you could opt for a sharing jeep, which will cost you 900 INR.
You can then meet your trek guide or coordinator in Lohajung, as that is the base camp for the Brahmatal trek.
Best time to visit
The best part about Brahmatal trek is that it can be undertaken even in winter, you could go all year round, but the frozen lake has a different charm to it in winters. In summer you will find the weather is pleasant and you just need to carry a few woolen clothes such as a sweater, jacket, and cardigan. Always carry a raincoat and an umbrella because it may rain at any time of the year.
Refrain from going in monsoon as the trail gets muddy and slippery. The best time for this trek is in winter. The trail is dry, and the lake freezes. However, taking into account the weather, you have to carry a windcheater and heavy woolens.
