War Memorial Park Overview

In southern Coventry, England, you'll find the massive park of the War Memorial Park, which spans roughly 48.5 hectares. In memory of the 2,587 residents of Coventry who lost their lives in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, a park was dedicated to their memory in July 1921.

If you're looking for a peaceful break, look no further than War Memorial Park. A major tourist destination, this park was established in 1921 as a tribute to the city's fallen First World War troops. The major attraction (along with the lovely, lush lawn and well-kept gardens) is the 90-foot-tall War Memorial constructed by Mr. Tickner. Additionally notable are the eight hundred magnificent trees planted in honour of the battle dead. Photos of 264 residents who lost their lives in World War I are included in the Missing Faces project. The Godiva Festival (formerly known as the Coventry Carnival Gala Day) takes place here every year, together with the Legends Festival and the War Memorial Food Festival, both of which are well-attended and much-celebrated events in the city. Picnic areas are covered by pavilions, so you may bring your food inside if it starts to rain.
