South Coast Beaches, Mombasa

About South Coast Beaches

The south coast of Kenya has a far more rustic appeal in comparison to Nyali or the other suburb beaches that are located immediately north of the Mombasa. This can be largely attributed to the logistical dislocation from the island-bound city which is connected by the steady but slow Likoni ferry service and not the road bridge.

Highlights: The three most prominent destinations here include the Diani Beach, Shimba Hills National Reserve and Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park. In the Southern edge of the ferry, the surfaced A14 sticks that go up to 1 to 2 miles of the sea shore for a major chunk of its length, veering the further inland just as it heads to the Lunga Lunga border with Tanzania that lies some 72 miles south of Mombasa.

Location: These lie over 30 km south of Mombasa.

Timings: Open round the year.

Price: Entry is free.
