Settled on the dry, limestone ground on Nusa Penida Island, Pura Dalem Ped is a baffling sanctuary. Amid the sanctuary's odalan, the gift of building, travelers come to offer their regards and give their offerings around evening time, while abnormally, the canines in the range cry constantly. The sanctuary itself is produced using limestone; its washed-out white shading gives the range a spooky feel and climate.
Highlights: The temple is said to have a dull history. Clearly it was made as a place to revere the island's defenders, the wong samar . 500 of these wong samar were once controlled by a detestable ruler, Ratu Gede Nusa, who with his dark enchantment given to him by the leyaks (witches and shamans) spread sickness and fiendishness.
The Watu Renggong kingdom tested Ratu Gede Nusa, otherwise called I Macaling, the human with a malevolent soul. After many fizzled endeavors, a Watu Renggong general accompanied the tooth of Naga Basuki, a mythical serpent, killed I Macaling and grabbed hold of the island.
Location: Pura Dalem Ped is located at Ped, Nusa Penida, Indonesia
