Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland is one of New Zealand’s most unique geothermal places, where you walk through colourful hot springs, bubbling mud pools and volcanic landscapes created over thousands of years.
It is vibrant, raw and full of natural surprises. With well-marked pathways and viewpoints along the way, it’s an experience that suits nature lovers, photographers and anyone who wishes to see nature's natural wonders.
About the activity:
- Get to see the Champagne Pool, one of New Zealand’s star attractions. Its constant bubbling and the green-orange rim make it a spot you cannot miss.
- You'll also come across the largest bubbling Mud Pool in New Zealand. The mud pops and splashes nonstop, and it's definitely a sight that you cannot miss.
- Don’t miss the famous Lady Knox Geyser. It erupts daily at 10:15 am and when it does, hot water shoots straight into the air as high as 10-20 meters.
- The park is easy to wander through. The paths are straight, and the signboards around explain what you’re looking at.
- You can also visit the centre café for a to have quick bite after exploring the area.
