Statue of Liberty Tickets Overview
About the Statue of Liberty:
The Statue of Liberty is one of the world’s most recognised symbols of freedom and has been welcoming visitors to New York Harbor since 1886. It was a gift from France to the United States, which was created by sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, while the internal iron structure was engineered by Gustave Eiffel. Standing more than 300 feet tall from base to torch, the statue represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty. In one hand, she raises a torch that signifies enlightenment. In the other, she holds a tablet marked with July 4, 1776, the date of American independence.
But the experience goes even beyond simply looking at the statue from outside. You can step inside the pedestal, where exhibits will show how the monument was built and what it stands for. The displays are immersive yet easy to follow, making history feel alive rather than distant.
Right nearby, the Statue of Liberty Museum adds more depth to the visit. Interactive galleries and the original torch on display bring the story full circle, tying together history, hope, and the lasting idea of freedom.
