About the Activity:

  • Mount Satopanth in the Garhwal region being a part of the Gaumukh glacier is a dream destination for many trekkers as the routes to the summit are less travelled and quite challenging compared to other routes in the region.
  • Inside the Gangotri national park the mount is situated and you are invited to indulge in a 21 day long expedition to tame this toughest mount and the related areas.
  • Mount Satopanth has the high angled slopes and it is located at an altitude of 7075 meters where the trekkers can enjoy the mesmerising and astounding views of Bhagirathi and Gangotri peaks along with the other majestic Himalayan peaks.
  • You will be going through the banks of the River Ganges and River Bhagirathi during your trip and reach the divine town of Gangotri and then to Gaumukh, the snout of the rivers.
  • During the trekking trip, Vasuki Tal will come your way to give some more adventurous trekking experiences as it is the most beautiful lake situated at a decent altitude.
  • The package includes food, accommodation in hotels and tents during the expedition and transportation from Uttarkashi to the base-camp.

  • The short itinerary is as follows:
  • Day 1 : Team Assembles at Uttarkashi
  • Day 2 : Uttarkashi to Gangotri
  • Day 3 : Gangotri to Bhojbasa
  • Day 4 : Bhojbasaa to Nandan Van
  • Day 5 : Nandanvan to Vasuki Tal B.C
  • Day 6-19 : Reserved for climbing
  • Day 20 : Return back to Gangotri
  • Day 21 : Departure

Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    Arrival at Uttarkashi

    You are requested to arrive in Uttarkashi anytime in the evening. Uttarkashi is the main centre for mountaineering in Garhwal regions.

    Explore the region as you wish, meet and greet your fellow trekkers and the natives.

    Post dinner, the guides will explain the trekking expedition to Mount Satopanth.

    The equipment to be used for the activity will also be issued on the first day.

    Stay overnight in your hotel.

  • Day 2 -

    Uttarkashi to Gangotri (3048 m/ 10,000 ft) by road (98 kms)

    After breakfast, move toward Gangotri via Harsil, the road head for your expedition.

    Today, you would be travelling for 4 hours and after you reach Gangotri, check-in to your hotel and relax.

  • Day 3 -

    Gangotri – Bhojbasa (14 kms Trek 5 – 6hrs trek)

    Today, after breakfast, start the trek to your first campsite, Bhojbasa which is also known as the land of Bhojpatra.

    On your trek, the river Bhagirathi will be accompanying on one side silently.

    Chirbasa campsite will be on the way.

    Once you arrive in Bhojbasa, settle down into your tents.

  • Day 4 -

    Bhojbasa- Nandanvan (9 km -5 hrs trek)

    Nandanvan is the destination today which is the base camp for the trek to Mt. Bhagirathi 2. But it is your intermediate camp centre.

    You will be going to Gaumukh, the snout of the glacier and the source of the river Ganges.

    From Gaumukh, you will be climbing over the glacier and crossing its lateral moraine to the reach the base camp.

    Stay overnight in Nandanvan.

  • Day 5 -

    Nandanvan to Vasuki Tal (4 km -3 hrs trek)

    Today, keep your target as the high altitude lake Vasuki Tal which is at an altitude of 4850 meters.

    The very difficult trekking route to reach the top makes every trekker fall in love with this place.

    You are going to stay overnight at the base camp near Vasuki Tal.

  • Day 6 -

    Day 06-19 are reserved for climbing

    Plan and head out to climb up to the summit of Mount Satopanth from day 6 to 19. Get acclimatized and preparing your body to meet the challenges en route would be done during these days.

    Climbing up the summit would be tried during night depending on the weather condition.

    In case of bad weather also, you have enough days to keep your targets intact and finish the trek.

  • Day 20 -

    Base camp – Gangotri

    After you conquer the summit of Satopanth, make a fast descent to Gangotri from the base camp you were staying.

    By the late afternoon, you will reach Gangotri.

    Relax after the challenging trekking days you have gone through.

    Share your experiences and expectations with the group.

    Post dinner, retire for the night. Before that, return your equipment to the providers.

  • Day 21 -

    Departure from Gangotri

    After breakfast, depart from Gangotri and wind up the tour.
