How to reach Tanzania:

One can reach Tanzania by taking a connecting flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport with a stopover in Doha from all the major cities in India. You can further take a bus or a train to reach the city centre.

Day 1
Arrival in Tanzania | Transfer to Moshi | At the Foot of the Kilimanjaro
Moshi
  • Arrive in Tanzania via Kilimanjaro International Airport where our representative will pick you up and transfer you to Moshi Town.
  • Proceed with the check-in formalities and relax for a while.
  • You can simply take a rest or explore this beautiful town in the heart of Tanzania.
  • One can explore the markets and collect souvenirs for your loved ones.
  • Overnight stay at Moshi.
Day 2
Trek from Machame Gate (1,800 m) to Machame Camp (3,010 m) | Let the adventure begin
Machame Camp

Trekking distance: 5 Km | Trekking Time: 5-6 hours | Habitat: Rainforest


  • Wake up with a delicious breakfast and get ready for the adventure of your lifetime.
  • Our local mountain support crew will arrive at the hotel and give you a quick briefing about the route and the safety precautions.
  • After that, our representative will pick you up and take you to Kilimanjaro National Park’s entrance: Machame Gate (1800 m) that will take about 50 minutes.
  • The route passes by the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain with beautiful scenery all around.
  • After the quick formality of getting climbing permits and enrolling with the search and rescue service, the group will start trekking up to Machame Camp (3,010 m). 
  • This will be your first day at this altitude so it is advisable to drink 3 litres of bottled water daily, little by little and avoid having caffeine.
  • The path will pass through the dense rainforest on a winding trail up a ridge.
  • The trail can get muddy and slippery so gaiters and trekking poles will be good support for you here.
  • Overnight stay in the Machame camp.
Day 3
Trek from Machame Camp (3,010 m) to Shira Camp (3,845 m) | Into the moorlands; trail to the clouds
Shira Camp

Trekking distance: 5 Km | Trekking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Moorland


  • After having breakfast, you will start trekking to the second high-altitude camp, Shira Camp.
  • You will leave the terrain of the rain forest and continue on an ascending trail, passing the little valley along a steep rocky ridge.
  • The trail will be covered with low wild plants with small purple, pink or white flowers.
  • As you'll move forward, you can witness the striking views of the Shira Plateau laid out in front of you.
  • Always remember to choose the proper pace as the trekking trail is not that difficult but you may feel the change in altitude.
  • The route will take you to the west onto a deep, narrow valley with a river running along its bottom.
  • Take time to rest and have dinner to regain energy.
  • Overnight stay in camps at Shira Campsite.
Day 4
Trek from Shira Camp (3,900 m) to Barranco Camp (3,960 m) | Trail that passes through the 'Shark's Tooth'
Barranco Camp

Trekking distance: 11 Km | Trekking Time: 7-8 hours | Habitat: Grassland


  • After breakfast, continue to the east up a ridge from the Shira Plateau, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo.
  • Head towards Lava Tower ascending from 3,845 to 4,630, also known as the 'Shark's Tooth'.
  • A 90m. tall volcanic rock tower was formed by the volcanic activity that happened on the mountain many years ago.
  • The rise and fall of the trail may bring some difficulties, so it is essential to get proper acclimatisation before descending approximately 650 m to Barranco Camp.
  • Take a lunch break and make your body properly acclimatised and give it some extra-high altitude time.
  • After a lunch break and proper acclimatisation, descend towards Barranco Camp.
  • Here you can witness the famous Barranco Wall, impressive in both its massive size and steepness.
  • Overnight stay at Barranco Campsite.
Day 5
Trek from Barranco Camp (3,960 M) to Karanga Valley Camp (4,035 M) | Trail through the Alpine Desert
Karanga Camp

Trekking distance: 5 Km | Trekking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert


  • Post breakfast, get ready to climb Barranco Wall, a steep climb but totally doable.
  • The Barranco Wall seems more daunting than it actually is. You don't need any technical climbing skills to climb the mighty Wall.
  • As you reach the top, click memorable pictures with the beautiful backdrop of Kibo Peak to cherish these memories forever.
  • The following part of the day is to get familiar with the ups and downs and get proper acclimatisation.
  • Next, have lunch at Karanga Camp and regain your energy as you are going for an acclimatisation climb towards Barafu with its highest point being 4,270 m. 
  • Head back to Karanga Camp for the overnight stay.
Day 6
Trek from Karanga Valley Camp (4,035 m) to Barafu Camp (4,640 m) | Witness the first glimpse of the summit
Barafu Camp

Trekking distance: 6 Km | Trekking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert


  • After a good night's sleep and breakfast set off to the trail that leads to Barafu Camp.
  • The trail will lead you across desolate scree slopes with no vegetation around.
  • You will make your way through the strange yet mystical Alpine Desert as you gradually ascend upwards.
  • At this time, you will be through with the South Circuit, which offers great views of the summit from many different angles. 
  • Our experienced team will set up the camps ahead of time so that you will feel at ease.
  • After regaining strength, have an acclimatisation climb towards Kosovo Summit Camp with its highest point being 4,800 m.
  • Head back to Barafu Camp and take proper sleep.
  • Overnight stay at Barafu Camp.
Day 7
Trek from Barafu Camp (4,640 m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) | Descend to Millennium Camp | Trail to the Top of Africa

Trekking distance: 15 Km | Trekking Time: 8-12 hours | Habitat: Arctic


  • Wake up around midnight to continue your way up to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. 
  • Head in a northwest direction and ascend into heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater Rim. 
  • While the trek itself is not that difficult but rarified mountain air does pose a challenge and makes it a most challenging portion of the trek.
  • A guide will monitor your condition throughout the climb and be by your side to ensure your safety.
  • At Stella Point, take a short rest and witness the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see.
  • The shimmering rays colliding on the icy glaciers will be a magnificent sight to behold.
  •  From Stella Point, you may witness white shimmering snow all the way up on your 1-hour ascent to the summit.
  • As you reach the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro and also the highest point of the continent, pat yourself on the back for you have made it to the top.
  • The surreal view and the feeling of relief will take you in the aura of ecstasy. The mighty glaciers will captivate in the serenity that prevails in the air there.
  • After a rest of an hour or two, descend towards Millennium Camp.
  • Overnight stay at Millennium Camp.
Day 8
Descend from Millennium Camp (3,820 m) to Mweka Gate (1,650 m) | Trail through the dense Rainforest

Trekking distance: 12 Km | Trekking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Rainforest


  • Post breakfast, make your descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut campsite.
  • You will need gaiters and trekking poles for support as the trail may get slippery.
  • Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest and mist or rain can be expected in the late afternoon.
  • After a short recognition and celebration with the whole team, you will receive your trek certificates, followed by the drive to your hotel.
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Moshi.

Know Before You Go for Mount Kilimanjaro Trek

  • Do not take caffeine at high altitude for it can dehydrate your body and contribute to altitude sickness.
  • Drink 3-4 litres of water on daily basis in little quantities to keep your body hydrated and prevent altitude sickness.
  • Acclimatizing your body is as important for your body as drinking water on daily basis. Do not hurry and maintain a proper pace with proper acclimatisation.
  • It is important to give as little force as possible to the body while trying to adjust to a reducing oxygen supply.
  • Our itinerary is designed in such a way that will make you climb high sleep low to prevent your body from altitude sickness.
  • Always remember to dress up in layers for it is helpful to keep your body in the desired temperature range no matter what the environment is.
  • A visitor must also present an onward or return ticket together with proof that the visitor has sufficient funds to support himself or herself while in Tanzania.
  • At Kilimanjaro Airport, passengers disembark their flights outside on the tarmac. You may be required to show your boarding pass to staff outside the airport for verification that you got off the plane at the correct destination, so keep your boarding pass handy.
  • Do not bring non-bio gradable materials.
  • Pay heed to the instructions given by the trek leader and guide.
  • Taking care of your skin and eyes are important. Sunburns happen much quicker at high elevation so make sure to apply sunscreen a few times a day and wear a hat.
  • Always carry spare batteries and power bank for in the cold, your batteries will die much quicker than they do at home. This holds true for basically every kind of electronics you'll be using from phones to cameras to kindles
  • Foreigners seeking to enter the United Republic of Tanzania should be in possession of a valid passport, at least six months prior to expiration. The passport is to be presented to the Immigration Control Officer at any entry point: border station, airport, harbor. The passport must be presented along with one of the following: 1. A valid visa 2. Resident permit
