Iceland Self Drive Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival at Reykjavik and Blue Lagoon Tour

  • Upon arrival in Reykjavik, meet our representative and get transferred to your pre-booked hotel.
  • Complete the check-in formalities at the hotel and rest for some time.
  • Start your day by driving from Reykjavík to the Blue Lagoon and marvel at the beautiful lava fields of Reykjanes Peninsula all along the way.
  • The Blue Lagoon offers lava and moss-filled scenery, state-of-the-art facilities, a unique atmosphere, and silica masks that make your skin extra firm, yet incredibly soft.
  • On arrival at the Blue Lagoon, relax in milky-blue waters with temperatures of around 100 degrees, at your leisure. 
  • Luxuriate in the warm, geothermal waters, making use of an included silica mud mask at the Blue Lagoon.
  • Return back to your hotel and enjoy an overnight stay in Reykjavik.


Day 2
Golden Circle Full Day Tour

  • Wake up in the morning, start your day with a toothsome breakfast and proceed on the most renowned tour of Iceland "Golden Circle".
  • Visit the spectacular Geysir area, and go to the cascades of Gullfoss Waterfall. Discover where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet in Þingvellir National Park.
  • Travel to the geothermal area of Geysir and marvel the active hot spring of Strokkur spouts steaming water 30 meters into the air every 8 minutes.
  • Continue to one of Iceland’s most iconic features at the Gullfoss Waterfall (“Golden Falls“) and feel the spray of the waters of the glacial River Hvítá as it plummets down into a 32-meter deep crevice.
  • Next, enter Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimeters per year.
  • Þingvellir was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural value in 2004, and is the site of a stunning rift valley and the Rock of Law - the first Viking parliament.
  • Marvel at the volcanic crater at Lake Kerið, and pass through the Icelandic farms of the south on your drive around the Golden Circle.

Transfers from Reykjavik to Akureyri

  • Witness the great Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls spread at a distance of around 900 meters also known as the "Lava Waterfalls.".
  • Take in the sight from several viewing platforms and see how the water stretches for nearly a kilometer over ancient lava fields, with meltwater from the Langjokull glacier pouring into the Hvita river.
  • The waters flow out of the Hallmundarhraun, a lava field that was formed around 1,000 years ago during a massive eruption of a volcano lying under a Langjökull glacier.
  • Rivulets streaming from the lava field create one of the most breathtaking views in Iceland, and just a few meters away, you will find another interesting waterfall.
  • The evening is free for leisure, you can explore the nearby places or stroll aorund the market.
  • Return back to your hotel and enjoy an overnight stay in Reykholt.


Day 7
Transfers from Reykholt to Vik

  • Wake up in the morning, have a healthy breakfast and complete the check out formalities.
  • Drive to your next destination- Vik and complete the check-in formalities at your pre-booked hotel.
  • Start your day by exploring the dramatic landscapes of the south of Iceland along with its coastline on a full-day sightseeing tour.
  • Travel to the gorgeous waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Along the way, pass a variety of rivers, waterfalls, mountains, and glaciers.
  • At the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, walk behind the cascades and feel the spray on your face. Continue to Skógafoss to marvel at the 60-meter drop. Pass the black sand beaches of the southern coast and enjoy the power of the sea.
  • Further, visit the Kirkjufjara Beach, one of the most unique beaches of Iceland, and be stunned by the amazing view of the black volcanic sand along the shores of the sea with the presence of a tall sea stack named "Eagle Rock" that is immovable even in the wild storm.
  • Next, visit the Reynisfjara beach, with its enormous basalt stacks, roaring Atlantic waves and stunning panoramas, Reynisfjara is widely considered to be the most beautiful example of Iceland’s black sand beaches.

  • Drive to the Skaftafell National park and the explore the breathtaking ice formations and glacier mills. Marvel at a naturally-formed, blue ice cave and learn how glaciers are formed.
  • This glacier is the highest peak of Iceland’s tallest mountain range. On a clear day, be sure to look out - you’ll see Hvannadalshnúkur in the distance.
  • Further, venture to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, a 200m deep glacial lagoon fed by Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet glacier of Europe’s largest glacier.
  • You will be able to witness icebergs floating from this glacier lagoon out into the Atlantic Ocean where they are quickly thrown back to shore by the tide and winds.
  • This black sand beach is full of smaller ice rocks in all shapes and sizes, sparkling like diamonds in the daylight. The ice itself comes in all shades of white and blue forming beautiful contrasts.

Transfers from Vik to Reykjavik
