Beijing Palace Museum Tickets Overview
About Beijing Palace Museum:
The Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum, is one of the world’s largest and best-preserved ancient palace complexes. Located in the heart of Beijing, this vast imperial site served as the residence of Chinese emperors and empresses for nearly 500 years and was the center of political and ceremonial life during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Built entirely of wood and spread across grand courtyards, ceremonial halls, and residential palaces, the Forbidden City reflects traditional Chinese architecture, symbolism, and royal culture. Visitors can walk through historic courtyards where important state ceremonies were once held and explore halls that housed imperial families. The Palace Museum also preserves an extraordinary collection of precious cultural relics, representing nearly one-sixth of China’s total cultural heritage artifacts. These include ancient paintings, ceramics, royal furnishings, and historical documents, making the Forbidden City not only an architectural landmark but also one of the most important museums in the world.
