Some trips get planned around a destination, but this one got planned around a family, to spend the last few days of the year together and have a blast start to the year along with the family. Nothing can be better and more exciting than this.

When Shubhangi Saxena sat down to book a New Year holiday, she wasn't just picking a place off a list. She was trying to find something her parents, Subhash Kumar and Nisha Saxena, and her elder sister Vidhi would all actually enjoy at the same time.

That's harder than it sounds. One generation wants temples. The other wants beaches. But the seven day Bali tour, put together with Thrillophilia, ended up being the answer. By the time the family flew back, it had already turned into the kind of trip people bring up months later, unprompted.

Settling Into Ubud, Where the Trip Found Its Rhythm

A picture perfect temple in Bali

They landed on the 26th of December where a Thrillophilia representative was already waiting at Ngurah Rai airport, and from there it was a private SUV that took them straight to Ubud.

Two nights at Dewi Sri Private Villa gave the family exactly what a long flight demands. Quiet. Greenery. No rush to do anything at all.

Breakfast started rolling in from the second morning. That's really when the trip stopped feeling like travel and started feeling like a family holiday.

Chasing Waterfalls and Legends Across Central Bali

Day two picked up the pace. A vintage Volkswagen, booked privately for just the four of them, took the family through Tegenungan Waterfall, up into the hills of Kintamani, and then to the Bali Swing.

Subhash and Nisha lingered longer at Kintamani than the schedule allowed, taking in the volcano views.

Shubhangi and Vidhi had other priorities. Getting the swing photos right took a few tries. More than a few, actually.

From Ubud's Hills to Kuta's Shores

Nature painted Bali in shades of green

Checking out of Ubud on day three meant one last cultural stop first, Taman Ayun Temple, before the drive continued to Tanah Lot for sunset.

Anyone who's seen photos of that temple against the sea will understand why the family stayed longer there than planned.

From Tanah Lot, it was straight to Melasti Beach Resort & Spa in Legian, where Thrillophilia had two rooms booked for the next four nights. Ubud's slow mornings gave way to Kuta's beach energy almost overnight.

Sunset at Uluwatu and a Slice of Padang Padang

A touch of Bali's beauty in every bloom

Evening on day four belonged to Padang Padang Beach and Uluwatu Temple.

There's something about that particular sunset, watched from the cliffs at Uluwatu, that gets even the pickiest travelers in a family to agree on one thing. This trip was no exception.

An Island Called Nusa Penida

Day five started early. A drive to Sanur Port, then a speedboat crossing to Toya Pakeh.

From there, the day unfolded across Nusa Penida's western coast. Kelingking Beach, Angel's Billabong, Broken Bay, Bubu Beach, with a short snorkelling session squeezed in before the boat back.

It was, by far, the longest day of the trip. Also the one with the most photos.

The private transfers on either end of the boat ride meant nobody had to figure out local transport on an island none of them had been to before. Thrillophilia had that part sorted well in advance, and it made the whole day easier to just enjoy.

Temples, Gates and the Last Days in Bali

Day six took the family north. First to the Handara Gate, the one everyone photographs the exact same way, then to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple by the lake.

After five days of near constant movement, this was the calmer stop. The one where nobody was checking the time.

Saying Goodbye, Carrying Memories Home

The last day was kept light on purpose. Just enough time to pack before the transfer back to the airport on the 1st of January.

A new year had just begun. The Saxena family flew home with a phone full of photos and one shared holiday they'd keep returning to in conversation.

Shubhangi later mentioned that the itinerary had been customized in a way that suited her family specifically, and that everyone, across both generations, had genuinely enjoyed it. That's not always easy to pull off on a family trip. It showed how the week actually played out.

Why Choose Thrillophilia for Your Next Bali Tour

What made this Bali tour itinerary work wasn't the list of places. Plenty of itineraries cover the same waterfalls and temples. But it was the on ground support that was provided to Subhangi and her family.

It was how closely this Bali tour package itinerary was personalised around one particular family's pace. Thrillophilia's team read the brief early and balanced slower cultural days for the parents with the more adventurous stretches, like Nusa Penida, for the sisters. So that every experience is memorable and cherishable in itself

Every transfer was arranged in advance. That meant zero time lost figuring out logistics in a country none of them had visited before. A dedicated destination expert also stayed reachable through the week, in case anything needed adjusting on the go.

If you're planning a Bali tour for a family that doesn't always want the same thing out of a holiday, that's the real difference Thrillophilia makes. An itinerary that adjusts to your people, instead of asking your people to adjust to it.
