Dubai has a way of making ordinary expectations feel slightly ridiculous. A holiday here can begin with dinner on a yacht, take you hundreds of metres above the ground, send you racing across desert dunes and then, somehow, leave you standing in real snow.
That was the kind of holiday Ashutosh Pathak and Kratika Arya stepped into when they arrived in Dubai in March 2024. Over six days, the couple moved between the city’s glamorous skyline, historic neighbourhoods, underwater attractions, desert camps and even an indoor winter wonderland. With their transfers and experiences already arranged, they could simply enjoy whatever Dubai had waiting around the next corner.
A Night on the Dubai Marina
Their first evening began on the waters of Dubai Marina, where the couple boarded the Lotus Mega Yacht for a dinner cruise. As the yacht moved through the marina, Dubai began to glow around them. Towering buildings reflected in the dark water, creating a spectacular backdrop as they settled in for dinner.
They enjoyed a buffet onboard while live entertainment played in the background. After arriving in Dubai, it was a relaxed way to experience the city for the first time, with the skyline doing most of the entertaining.
Seeing Dubai from 828 Metres Above the Ground

The next morning, the scale of the city became impossible to ignore. Ashutosh and Kratika headed to Burj Khalifa, Dubai’s most recognisable landmark and, at 828 metres, the tallest building in the world. The high-speed elevator whisked them towards the 124th floor, and within moments, the enormous city below had turned into a miniature landscape.
From the observation deck, highways looked like thin lines while the coastline stretched into the distance. Their day continued at Dubai Mall, but this time they went below the surface of the city, so to speak. At the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, they walked through an underwater tunnel surrounded by sharks, stingrays and thousands of fish in its enormous 10-million-litre tank.
From Old Dubai to a Garden of 50 Million Flowers
Dubai’s futuristic skyline is impossible to miss, but their city tour also took them through the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, offering a glimpse of the city’s older architectural character. They also visited Jumeirah Beach, Atlantis The Palm and Jumeirah Mosque, seeing several of Dubai’s best-known landmarks in a single outing.
The following day changed the mood completely. At Dubai Frame, they could take in views towards both old and new Dubai before heading to Dubai Miracle Garden. Surrounded by elaborate floral installations and millions of flowers, it was a colourful contrast to the glass and steel skyline. By evening, they were at Global Village, wandering through international pavilions, exploring food and shopping options, and taking in the lively entertainment.
When the City Disappears Behind the Sand

Then came the desert. Leaving Dubai’s skyscrapers behind, Ashutosh and Kratika headed into the Arabian Desert for a safari that was considerably more energetic than their yacht cruise. Their 4x4 dune-bashing experience took them over the sandy slopes, followed by sandboarding and a camel ride.
As the sun went down, the pace slowed at the desert camp. They enjoyed henna art and a BBQ dinner beneath the evening sky before settling in for live entertainment. A Tanoura performance, belly dancing and a fire show turned the desert into a lively stage, making the evening feel worlds away from the city they had explored just hours earlier.
A Winter Wonderland in the Middle of the Desert
Just when Dubai seemed to have run out of surprises, Ashutosh and Kratika found themselves surrounded by snow. Their next stop was Ski Dubai, inside Mall of the Emirates. Outside was the UAE, but inside they were suddenly in a winter wonderland with snow-covered slopes.
It was one of those experiences that perfectly captures Dubai’s personality. The couple later headed to the Flying Cup, rising above the city for panoramic views from the air. After seeing Dubai from the 124th floor of Burj Khalifa, they now had another perspective of the skyline, this time from an open-air attraction.
Why Ashutosh Loved the Way Thrillophilia Planned His Trip
For Ashutosh, the memorable part of the holiday wasn’t only the number of places they covered. It was how effortlessly those experiences came together. From the airport pickup and Marina cruise to Burj Khalifa, Dubai Aquarium, Dubai Frame, Miracle Garden, Global Village, the desert safari and Ski Dubai, the major details had already been arranged.
That meant the couple could spend their holiday experiencing Dubai instead of constantly figuring out the next transfer, ticket or activity. As Ashutosh put it, “Liked the way everything was planned and we as travellers didn’t have to bother about anything else.” And perhaps that is exactly what made the six-day escape work so well: the planning stayed in the background while Dubai took centre stage.
