The Badrinath Temple is located in the town of Badrinath in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It is a major Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and also one of the 108 Divya Desams and a part of the Char Dham pilgrimage site. The temple is situated at an altitude of 3300 meters, amidst extremely cold temperatures. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a badri tree to protect Lord Vishnu when he was in deep meditation; hence, the place was named Badrinath.

The Badrinath temple is opened in May on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya. During winter, it remains closed for six months due to harsh weather conditions as the entire place gets covered with snow, making it difficult to travel at that time. Every year, a diya is filled with oil at the time of closing the gates, which remains lit until the doors are open again.

The temple is an extremely spiritual and devotional place where devotees from all over the world come to offer their respect and seek the blessings of lord Vishnu.
