Hassan Tower Overview

The Hassan Tower, located in Rabat, Morocco, is an iconic historical monument that stands as a testament to the grandeur of medieval Islamic architecture.

Commissioned by Sultan Yacoub al-Mansour in the late 12th century, the tower was intended to be the minaret of what would have been the largest mosque in the world. However, construction was halted upon the sultan's death, leaving the tower unfinished.

Despite its incomplete state, the Hassan Tower remains an imposing structure, standing at over 44 meters tall. Its distinctive square shape and intricately carved details reflect the Almohad style of architecture. Today, the tower is a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of Rabat's rich cultural heritage.
