Cruickshank Botanic Gardens, Aberdeen

Situated on the popular Union Terrace street, this lush green public park and gardens is a great spot of relaxing strolls and picnics with family. Open to the general public in 1879, the sunken gardens are spread across two and a half acres of green space and vibrant flora. The place also has an amphitheatre, which contrary to popular beliefs is not a naturally occurring venue. This amazing green space is surrounded by some of the most popular attractions of Aberdeen, offering great views to the visitors.

The Tolbooth display is nestled in a former prison of Aberdeen and was opened to the general public in the year 1995. Featuring the structural style of the 17th and 18th century, this museum houses several displays on the history of the city and how crime and punishment have evolved over the centuries. The gaol cells and remaining infrastructure give an insight into the treatment and experience of prisoners and that of the rebel Jacobites.

A historic church located in the city center of Aberdeen, the kirk of Saint Nicholas uniting is also known as the mother Church of the city. Featuring a dark oak interior this church was first mentioned in a Papel document of 1151. Even till date the church retains a majority of its medieval features and decorative items, and is among the popular tourist places to visit in Aberdeen.

The Gordon Highlanders museum brings to life the stories of the finest regiments the British army has ever seen – the Gordon Highlanders. The regiment was composed of ordinary men including farmers, fishermen, laborers, Gillies and even aristocrats and university students. The collection and stories displayed at the museum holds a national significance and retraced the remarkable history of these valiant men.

Also popularly known as just St. Mary’s Cathedral, this cathedral church is a part of the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland's third largest city, Aberdeen. The church is the seating place of the Bishop of Aberdeen and was opened to the general public in the 19th century. Later as the church was raised to a cathedral position, the beams and spires were added to its structure as a symbol of the change.

Saint Machar’s Cathedral is the oldest standing structure and among the most popular places to visit in Aberdeen for its historical face value. This cathedral is believed to have been built on the site of what once belonged to a small Celtic chapel. The cathedral that stands today was founded in 1136 and the earliest work of the present building was started in the 14th century and completed in 1552.
