Congress Square

Congress Square (Kongresni trg) is one of Ljubljana's most important and historic public spaces, located in the heart of the Slovenian capital. The square was established in the early 19th century following the Congress of Ljubljana (1821), which gave it its name.

The square is surrounded by several significant buildings, including the University of Ljubljana, the Slovenian Philharmonic, and the Ursuline Church of the Holy Trinity. Underneath the square lies a modern underground parking garage, while the surface remains a pedestrian-friendly open space.

Congress Square serves as a venue for numerous public events, concerts, and celebrations throughout the year. It features a star-shaped pattern in its paving, fountains, and carefully placed greenery. The square connects to Zvezda Park (Star Park) and provides views of Ljubljana Castle on the hill above the city, making it a popular gathering spot for both locals and tourists.
