There are trips that happen spontaneously with few details discussed, and then there are trips whose every detail is analysed but doesn’t ultimately leave the group chat. Shaili didn’t want her and Sneh’s Turkey trip to end up like that.

While she wanted to experience all the Turkish sites whose pictures fill her search history, what she wanted to experience even more was a complete escape to a place where she could decide how her day was going to look. And that is exactly what she conveyed to Snehal Bhatia, her destination expert.

What followed was a vigorous planning phase accounting for all trip aspects, including regular briefing sessions and confirmation checks and itinerary fine-tuning. By the time her and Sneh’s departure time came, they already knew how their trip was going to look and how the team was going to support them throughout the journey, and their minds were at ease.

Where East Meets West: Discovering the Soul of Istanbul

Their landing was soon met with a private vehicle waiting at the airport, which was followed by a smooth transfer to their 4-star accommodation at Dark Hill Hotel in Türkiye. Located close to the city's historic and cultural districts, the hotel provided an excellent base for exploring Istanbul while ensuring comfortable transfers and well-paced sightseeing.

Their first evening was intentionally kept light with the travel fatigue in mind, but it was, in no way, any less grand than what Shaili had expected of Turkey. The Bosphorus Dinner Cruise took them through Europe and Asia as they admired the illuminated landmarks, including Dolmabahçe Palace, Ortaköy Mosque, Rumeli Fortress, Maiden's Tower, and the Bosphorus Bridge, while enjoying Turkish cuisine and vibrant folkloric performances. It not only introduced them to the sites that they were soon to visit but also settled them into the city’s rhythm without physically draining them.

The following days were devoted to sightseeing with the accompaniment of a professional guide. Their third day offered a refreshing contrast with a cruise across the Sea of Marmara to Büyükada, the largest of the Princes' Islands. Away from Istanbul's energetic streets, they enjoyed the island's peaceful atmosphere, admired beautifully preserved Ottoman-era wooden mansions, and learnt about its fascinating past as a place of exile and monastic settlement.

The relaxed pace of the excursion balanced the previous day's intensive sightseeing, reflecting a well-designed itinerary that combined cultural immersion with downtime.

Cave Stays, Hidden Valleys & Underground Wonders

Leaving Istanbul behind, Shaili and Sneh boarded their included domestic flight to Cappadocia, where they checked into their unique, cave-style accommodation called the Abras Cave Hotel. The team had recommended early on staying in a traditional cave hotel, which added an authentic touch to their experience, allowing them to enjoy the unique architecture that has made Cappadocia one of Türkiye's most remarkable destinations.

Their exploration of Cappadocia introduced them to landscapes unlike anywhere else in the world. They hiked through the striking Red Valley, passing centuries-old rock-cut churches and colourful volcanic formations before continuing to the historic village of Çavuşin, one of the region's oldest settlements. After a traditional Turkish lunch, they visited the scenic Pigeon Valley, known for its dramatic cliffs and ancient pigeon houses carved into the rocks.

For Shaili, this trip meant more than a checklist of destinations. This was an opportunity to craft memories that she’d cherish for the rest of her life. That was all that mattered to her, and that was all Thrillophilia primarily built the trip around.

From the Mediterranean Coast to Ancient Wonders

The next chapter of Shaili's and Sneh's journey began with a domestic flight to Antalya, where they checked into the Ring Downtown Hotel. The transition from Cappadocia's rugged volcanic landscapes to Antalya's palm-lined boulevards and coastal charm highlighted the country's remarkable geographical diversity, while the pre-arranged airport transfers and internal flights ensured a smooth, hassle-free experience.

Their final full day combined Antalya's natural beauty with its rich heritage. They visited the picturesque Düden Waterfalls, where cascading water disappeared into lush greenery before continuing to the historic district of Kaleiçi. Walking through its narrow cobbled streets, they explored landmarks such as Hadrian's Gate, the Clock Tower, the Kesik Minare (Truncated Minaret), and sections of the city's ancient defensive walls.

They were returned to their hotel back in Istanbul by a domestic flight, already included in their package, for their departure to their home the next day.

Shaili’s Review and Thrillophilia’s Consistency

“Our journey through Turkey was an exhilarating whirlwind of culture, excitement, and laughter. The evenings were spent dining under the stars in traditional Turkish restaurants, feasting on mezze platters and sipping on aromatic Turkish tea. But perhaps what made our trip truly unforgettable were the spontaneous moments of fun and laughter shared amongst Us, each experience brought us closer together and left us with memories to cherish for a lifetime. In the end, our Turkey adventure was more than just a trip—it was a journey of discovery and pure joy. And for that, we are forever grateful to Sumit, Snehal and the entire team for creating such an incredible experience. Until next time, Turkey, şerefe!”

Shaili’s Turkey review on Thrillophilia's platform was more than just a review but a sign of relief that confirmed how memorable the trip was for her. It signified the valuable time she spent with Sneh, the laughs, the excitement, the food, and the scenery; all of it felt candid, yet curated.

The team had promised them a consistently memorable trip throughout the 9 days, and they kept it. It was all Shaili wanted.
