Rhino Safaris in Kaziranga and Misty Falls in Cherrapunji
The nine-day adventure began as Shankar and his wife landed at Guwahati Airport, where a private transfer picked them up for their drive to Kaziranga National Park in Assam. After reaching there, they rested for the day, enjoying the serene forest views. On their second morning, they began an exciting safari through the national park, spotting one-horned rhinoceroses, wild elephants, and diverse bird species across the open grasslands. On day three, the couple travelled toward Shillong, stopping at scenic Umiam Lake to take in views of the hills surrounding the calm reservoir. Then they checked into their hotel to spend a leisurely evening.
Day four took the couple into Cherrapunji, passing Elephant Falls and Mawkdok Dympep Viewpoint along the way. They hiked down to the three-tiered Wei Sawdong Falls, admired Nohkalikai Falls, and explored the fossil-rich limestone chambers of Mawsmai Cave and Arwah Cave. The fifth day delivered an adventurous highlight as they traveled to Tyrna Village for the famous Nongriat Trek. Navigating forest trails and climbing three thousand steps, Shankar and his wife stood together on the Double Decker Root Bridge, marveling at the living root architecture created by local villagers.
Cleanest Villages, Crystal Rivers, and Guwahati Temples
On the sixth day, the couple traveled to Dawki, stopping at Mawlynnong to explore Asia's cleanest village and admire the famous natural Balancing Rock. After walking across the Single Decker Living Root Bridge in Riwai Village, they reached Dawki and enjoyed a serene boat ride on the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River before staying overnight in Shnongpdeng. Day seven brought a visit to the turquoise Krang Suri Waterfalls in Jowai, followed by panoramic views from Laitlum Canyons before returning to Shillong.
Day eight carried the couple back to Guwahati for a cultural sightseeing tour, visiting historic temples such as Kamakhya Temple and Sukreswar Temple alongside local botanical gardens and cultural centers. Following nine days of wildlife safaris, root bridge treks, and scenic river drives, a private transfer brought Shankar and his wife safely to Guwahati Airport for their flight home.
