Japan gave Ajaykumar and Manisha ten days to experience some of the country's most recognisable sights, and the trip packed in plenty. Their journey moved between Tokyo's huge cityscape, the quiet mountain scenery around Mount Fuji and Nikko, and the historic streets and temples of Kyoto, Nara and Osaka. With private sightseeing tours, comfortable transfers and plenty of time to explore, the couple got to experience several very different sides of Japan during the same holiday.

Mount Fuji Was the Highlight They Had Been Waiting For

If there was one sight that could make the couple stop and simply take it all in, it was Mount Fuji. Their private day trip took them around Lake Kawaguchiko, Oishi Park, Oshino Hakkai, Arakurayama Sengen Park, Chureito Pagoda and the Fuji Sengen Shrine before reaching the 5th Station.

The views around Lake Kawaguchiko were exactly what most people picture when they think of Japan. The calm lake stretched across the foreground while Mount Fuji rose behind it, its snow-covered peak standing clearly against the sky. At Oishi Park, flowers added colour to the landscape, while Oshino Hakkai brought them to a quieter traditional village setting with clear spring ponds, old-style houses and Fuji views in the background.

Arakurayama Sengen Park offered another unforgettable view. The famous red Chureito Pagoda stood against the mountain, creating one of those classic Japanese scenes that feels almost too perfect to be real. Reaching the 5th Station at around 2,300 metres brought them even closer to Fuji, with cooler mountain air and wide views over the surrounding landscape. It was easily one of the days that stayed with them long after they left Japan.

Tokyo Was All About Variety

Tokyo gave the couple a completely different experience. Their sightseeing took them through Sensoji Temple, Meiji Jingu, Odaiba, Shibuya Crossing, Tsukiji Fish Market, Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower and the Imperial Palace. Within a single day, the scenery shifted from centuries-old temples and peaceful shrine grounds to enormous intersections, skyscrapers and busy shopping districts.

Shibuya was perhaps the most recognisable version of Tokyo. Watching hundreds of people move across the famous crossing while huge screens flashed above the streets gave them a proper taste of the city's energy. Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Tower then offered the chance to see that same city from above, with buildings stretching across the horizon in every direction. Their visit to teamLab Planets added something completely different, placing them inside immersive digital installations where lights, reflections and moving visuals transformed the rooms around them.

Nikko Brought Out a Quieter Side of Japan

Their day in Nikko showed them how quickly Japan's landscape can change. The city sits among mountains and forests, with historic temples and shrines surrounded by greenery. They visited Nikko Toshogu, explored the area around Shinkyo Bridge and continued towards Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls.

The contrast was striking. Tokyo had been full of crowds, towering buildings and constant movement, while Nikko offered forest roads, mountain views and the sound of waterfalls cutting through the landscape. Kegon Falls was particularly impressive, with water plunging down the rocky cliffs surrounded by the mountains of the region. It gave the couple a completely different picture of Japan from the one they had experienced in the capital.

Kyoto and Nara Turned the Trip Historic

From Osaka, Ajaykumar and Manisha headed out for a full-day exploration of Kyoto and Nara. Nara began with its famous deer wandering freely around Nara Park, often approaching visitors looking for treats. The playful animals added a fun moment to a day filled with some of Japan's most important historical landmarks, including Todai-ji and its enormous Great Buddha.

Kyoto brought a more traditional side of the country into focus. The couple walked through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, explored the peaceful gardens of Tenryu-ji and visited Kinkaku-ji, better known as the Golden Pavilion. The temple's golden exterior reflected across the surrounding pond, making it one of the most striking stops of the day. At Fushimi Inari, thousands of bright vermilion torii gates climbed through the forest, creating a completely different atmosphere and one of the most memorable walks of their Japan holiday.

Osaka Added Food, Energy and a New Rhythm

By the time Ajaykumar and Manisha reached Osaka, they had already seen several very different sides of Japan. Osaka brought another change in pace, with lively streets, restaurants, shopping areas and neighbourhoods full of activity. Their stay at Hotel Forza Osaka Namba Dotonbori placed them right in the middle of the city's famous Dotonbori area, where bright signs, restaurants and crowds create a lively atmosphere well into the evening.

Their Kobe excursion added another experience to the Osaka leg. They explored the waterfront, Kobe Animal Kingdom and the historic Kitano Ijinkan-Gai before returning to Osaka. A leisure day then gave them the freedom to enjoy the city at their own pace before their departure.
