Some people travel solo because they want to meet new people. Others do it for the freedom of making every decision for themselves.

For Akshay Ravi, it was the latter.

He had already thought about the places he wanted to visit in Bali and the kind of journey he wanted to have. There was no interest in joining a group tour or following a standard itinerary just because he was travelling alone.

Akshay wanted his own room, the comfort of private transfers for most of the journey, and enough freedom to experience Bali at his own pace.

The challenge was turning those preferences into a practical six-day trip.

When Akshay shared his plans with Thrillophilia, the idea was not to replace his itinerary with a ready-made package. Instead, the team worked around his preferences and helped turn his plan into a complete journey with stays, transfers, sightseeing experiences, and local coordination.

Akshay travelled across Ubud and Kuta, explored some of Bali’s most popular attractions, visited Nusa Penida, and had his own room throughout the journey.

One traveller. One room. A largely private journey across Bali.

For Akshay, travelling solo did not mean compromising on comfort.

Bali Began With the Quiet Side of Ubud

Akshay explored the lush green landscapes of the Tegalalang Rice Terraces in Ubud

Akshay landed at Ngurah Rai International Airport on 13 May 2025.

His private transfer was already arranged to take him from the airport to Ubud, where he checked into Puri Payogan Ubud for two nights.

The first day had deliberately been kept light.

There were no packed sightseeing schedules waiting immediately after the flight. Akshay had time to settle into his hotel, relax, and explore Ubud on his own terms.

The next morning was when Bali truly began to unfold.

The day covered Kintamani Highlands, a coffee plantation, Ubud Palace and the nearby art colonies, Tegenungan Waterfall, and Tegalalang Rice Terrace.

It was a full sightseeing day, but Akshay had the comfort of travelling privately.

His driver became an important part of the journey.

In his review, Akshay particularly appreciated how punctual, friendly, and helpful the driver was throughout the trip. Travelling alone in another country can sometimes come with concerns about local transport and long road journeys, but Akshay never felt uncomfortable.

He could simply enjoy the places around him while knowing that the next transfer was already taken care of.

When a Transfer Day Became Part of the Experience

On the third morning, it was time to leave Ubud and move to Kuta.

But the day was not spent simply travelling between two hotels.

Akshay’s route included Handara Gate, Ulun Danu Temple, and Tanah Lot.

It was one of those days that showed the value of planning a journey around the route itself.

Instead of losing several hours to a hotel transfer, Akshay could explore some of Bali’s most recognisable landmarks along the way.

By evening, he reached Hotel ZIA Bali in Kuta, where another private room had been arranged for the next three nights.

Once again, the arrangements reflected the kind of journey Akshay had asked for.

There was no unnecessary sharing of accommodation just because he was travelling alone. His stay was booked for one guest, breakfast was included, and most road transfers during the trip were private.

It was a solo journey designed around a solo traveller.

A Day Across the Waters to Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida never fails to impress with its dramatic coastline and crystal-clear waters

No Bali trip feels quite complete without seeing the dramatic landscapes of Nusa Penida.

For Akshay, the fourth day was dedicated entirely to the island.

The journey involved road transfers, a speedboat ride, local transportation, and a full day of sightseeing.

Kelingking Beach was one of the major stops, followed by Angel’s Billabong, Broken Bay, and Crystal Bay.

Days like these often look simple when written in an itinerary.

In reality, several small arrangements need to work together.

The pickup has to happen on time. The boat transfer needs to connect with the local vehicle. Sightseeing has to be managed within the available hours, and the return journey needs to be coordinated properly.

For Akshay, everything went according to plan.

There were no repeated calls to confirm bookings or questions about where to go next. He could focus on experiencing the island while the arrangements worked quietly in the background.

Temples, Beaches, and One Last Bali Sunset

Akshay admired the serene beauty of Ulun Danu Beratan Temple during his Bali trip

By the fifth day, Akshay had already experienced the quieter landscapes of Ubud, the rice terraces of Central Bali, the temples of northern Bali, and the cliffs of Nusa Penida.

There was still another side of the island waiting.

His final full day included GWK Park, Uluwatu Temple, Padang Padang Beach, and the traditional Kecak Dance.

It was a fitting way to spend the last full day of the journey.

The itinerary brought together culture, coastal landscapes, and one of Bali’s most popular performances without making Akshay responsible for managing transport between each place.

By the end of the day, the six-day journey he had planned for himself was almost complete.

The following morning, a private transfer took him from the hotel to Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Akshay returned home having visited the places he wanted to see, in the way he wanted to see them.

The Freedom to Travel Alone Without Managing Everything Alone

What stood out about Akshay’s journey was not just that he travelled solo.

It was how much of the trip had been shaped around that decision.

His hotels were booked for one guest. He had his own room throughout the journey. Most of his road transfers and sightseeing experiences were arranged privately.

But the value of the journey went beyond the inclusions.

Akshay had created the itinerary he wanted, and Thrillophilia supported it instead of asking him to choose a standard route.

In his review, he mentioned that the bookings were smooth, the hotels were clean and comfortable, and the trip unfolded according to his plan.

Most importantly, he felt safe throughout the journey.

For someone travelling alone, that was perhaps the most meaningful part of the experience.

Why Thrillophilia?

Akshay’s Priorities Came First

The trip started with Akshay’s own ideas.

He knew the places he wanted to visit and the kind of journey he wanted. Thrillophilia worked around those preferences and converted them into a practical itinerary with hotels, transfers, sightseeing, and local experiences.

The traveller did not have to adjust to the package. The package was customised around the traveller.

A Solo Trip Without Compromising on Comfort

Travelling alone can sometimes mean having to choose between privacy and keeping the trip practical.

Akshay did not have to make that choice.

His trip was planned for one traveller, with his own room across both Ubud and Kuta. Most road transfers were private, including airport transfers and several sightseeing days.

The arrangements gave him the personal space and comfort he wanted while keeping the journey practical and well planned.

Someone Was Taking Care of the Details

From the airport pickup in Bali to the final departure transfer, multiple bookings had to work together.

Hotels, private vehicles, sightseeing activities, speedboat transfers, and local transportation for Nusa Penida were all part of the journey.

Akshay did not have to coordinate these arrangements himself during the trip.

Everything worked in the background while he focused on travelling.

Reliable Local Support Mattered

The driver was one of the people Akshay appreciated most during the journey.

He was punctual, friendly, and helpful throughout the trip. More importantly, Akshay felt safe and comfortable travelling with him.

For a solo traveller in another country, reliable local support can make a major difference to the overall experience.

Customisation Was More Than Changing a Few Activities

For Akshay, customisation meant having a journey that reflected the way he wanted to travel.

His route, sightseeing preferences, private arrangements, stays, and pace were brought together into one itinerary.

That flexibility allowed him to enjoy the independence of solo travel without taking on the responsibility of managing every booking alone.

A Solo Trip That Stayed Personal Until the End

Akshay returned from Bali with a simple review of his experience.

The trip had been peaceful, enjoyable, and well-managed.

He had visited the places he wanted to see. The hotels were comfortable. The driver made him feel safe. The bookings worked as planned.

There were no dramatic travel problems to overcome or last-minute situations that became the highlight of the story.

And perhaps that is exactly what made this journey successful.

Akshay wanted to explore Bali independently without spending the trip worrying about logistics.

That is what he got.

His journey showed that travelling solo does not always mean handling everything alone.

Sometimes, the best solo trips are the ones where the traveller has complete freedom to explore, while someone reliable takes care of the details in the background.
