With four travellers, the trip to Arunachal Pradesh was designed to move through some of the region's most memorable landscapes, beginning in Guwahati and gradually making its way through Bhalukpong, Dirang, Tawang, Bomdila and finally Kaziranga.

The adventure began in Guwahati, where the family was picked up and driven towards Bhalukpong. As the plains gradually gave way to the Himalayan foothills, the journey itself became part of the experience

Bhalukpong offered the perfect introduction to the region, surrounded by lush landscapes and the flowing waters of the Bharali River. With options such as kayaking and river rafting, the family had the chance to ease into their Northeast adventure before settling in for the night.

From Bhalukpong to Dirang

The morning after arrival brought a scenic drive towards Dirang, with several interesting stops along the way. At Tippi, the family explored the Tippi Orchid Research Center, home to an impressive collection of orchids. A visit to the Nag Temple added another cultural touch to the journey before they continued towards the mountains.

After reaching Dirang, the pace became slower and more immersive. The family explored local apple and kiwi farms and visited the Dirang Monastery and Kalachakra Gompa. Surrounded by mountain scenery and Buddhist influences, Dirang offered a peaceful contrast to the adventure-filled beginning of the trip.

Sela Pass and Nuranang Falls

The journey from Dirang to Tawang became one of the most scenic stretches of the holiday. The family travelled through the dramatic landscapes of Sela Pass and stopped at the beautiful Sela Lake, where the surrounding mountains created an unforgettable Himalayan backdrop.

The route also brought them to Jaswant Garh War Memorial, commemorating the bravery of Indian soldiers, and the spectacular Nuranang Falls. With every turn revealing a new mountain view, the drive to Tawang was as memorable as the destination itself.

Upon reaching Tawang, the family settled in and later had the opportunity to explore the local market, adding a more relaxed and local dimension to their mountain experience.

Discovering the Spiritual Side of Tawang

Tawang gave the family an entire day to explore the region's natural and cultural highlights. The day included a visit to Shonga-tser Lake, popularly known as Madhuri Lake, whose tranquil waters are surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.

The family also visited Taktsang Gompa before making their way to the iconic Tawang Monastery. As one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the region, it added a deeply cultural and spiritual dimension to the trip.

For those looking for an added adventure, Bumla Pass was also available as an optional excursion. The day brought together everything that makes Tawang special—high-altitude landscapes, Buddhist heritage, peaceful lakes and the rugged beauty of the Eastern Himalayas.

From Tawang to Bomdila

After experiencing the high-altitude beauty of Tawang, the family continued towards Bomdila. The change in scenery offered a quieter pace while retaining the cultural character of Arunachal Pradesh.

In Bomdila, they visited Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery, also known as the Bomdila Monastery, and Thubchog Gatsel Ling Monastery. The monasteries offered panoramic mountain views along with moments of calm and reflection, making this part of the journey a natural continuation of the family's exploration of Arunachal's Buddhist heritage.

From Mountains to Wildlife

The next leg of the journey brought a dramatic change in landscape as the family travelled from Bomdila towards Kaziranga. After several days surrounded by mountains and monasteries, the transition towards the wildlife-rich landscapes of Assam marked a completely different chapter of the trip.

The family spent the evening at their resort in Kaziranga, preparing for one final adventure before their journey home.

A Wildlife Finale at Kaziranga National Park

The final morning began with a jeep safari through Kaziranga National Park. The safari offered the family an opportunity to explore the park's wilderness and look out for some of its most famous inhabitants, including the one-horned rhinoceros, elephants, wild buffalo, tigers and a variety of birds.

After the safari, the family checked out and began their drive towards Guwahati, bringing their seven-day Northeast adventure to an end.

The thoughtfully planned itinerary also gave them enough time to experience Arunachal Pradesh at a comfortable pace, while the transfers made travelling through the region’s winding mountain roads much easier.

With the arrangements taken care of, their 7-day Arunachal Pradesh holiday became a relaxed and memorable family experience.
