Chitradurga also known as the Chitrakaladurga, is a beautiful place in Karnataka. It is located about 200 km from Bangalore and is surrounded by rocky boulders. Located in the valley of the Vedavati River, Chirtradurga offers some really spectacular scenery. Filled with many legends and historical structures, this place is a wonderful treasure trove waiting to be explored. 

Chitradurga is an eclectic mix of unbelievable attractions, intriguing experiences and glorious history. It can offer you some of the most invigorating attractions along with some quiet time. There are several temples, forts, dams, caves, rivers, and forests around which you can plan your whole trip. 

When it comes to attractions of Chitradurga, the first thing that comes to mind is the Chitradurga Fort. Many tourists travel from different countries to visit this fort. Great historical figures have stayed in this fort, right from Tipu Sultan to Bhima. The temple contains a drum of Bhima and a tooth of Hidimba. Apart from the Fort, there is the Vani Vilas Sagar Dam, Ankali Mutt, Chandravalli, Adumalleshwara Temple, Himavat Kedaya, Gayatri Jalashaya and Jogimatti which can be included in your list of attractions in Chitradurga. 

Like other places in Karnataka, you can participate in many outdoor activities in this place such as banana boat rides, kayaking, jet-skiing, canoeing in the rivers. Apart from these, you can also trek the hills and enjoy camping. Places like Gayatri Jalashaya are perfect for a picnic with friends and family.

October to March is the best time to visit Chitradurga. The weather is quite pleasant at this time and it offers a great ambience for explorations and sightseeing. Summers are really hot here and not very ideal for outdoor activities. Monsoons take humidity to a very uncomfortable level making it difficult to visit and enjoy the attractions of this place.
