The Uchisar Castle is a stunning landmark located in Cappadocia, Turkey. This is a natural rock formation, from which a castle is carved and offers some of the best views from the tip. The Uchisar Castle is a mesmerising UNESCO-listed castle, situated amidst the stunning Uchisar VIllage in Cappadocia. It has a beautiful village setting, with spiralling roads and scattered rural houses. Having a rich historical and heritage value, this castle is known all over the world for the beautiful panoramic view that it rewards its explorers with. How To Reach

By Car: The castle is located almost 6 kilometres away from Love Valley and will take around 10 minutes if you are planning to drive via the Sesame Sk route. We recommend travelling by car as you can explore the place in a much more flexible way. 

By Foot: If you are in Uchisar village, you can walk to the castle and it will take at least five minutes for you to reach the base from the heart of the city.

Best Time To Visit

Since the Uchisar Castle is open throughout the year, you can visit the place at any time of the year. 

The best time to plan your visit will be between March to May and August to September as these are the times when the climate is favourable and there is a minimum chance of rainfall. 

Weekdays are apt for planning your visit as this is the time when the castle is not crowded and you can even have the entire place to yourself and explore the premises in a much more laid-back way.

The best time of the day would be the sunset as you can get to the top and admire the stunning views after spending some time visiting the castle and exploring the interiors.

  • If you are planning to stay in Uchisar, try booking a cave hotel for a unique stay experience. 
  • There is a separate pass to visit Uchisar Castle and it does not come under the Turkey Museum Pass. 
  • If you are travelling by car, the number of parking spaces in the locality is limited, so plan your travel accordingly. 
  • The castle is open from 7 am to 8 pm, so you can plan your travel accordingly.
  • The castle has an intricate labyrinth of networks, so be mindful of the route you are travelling when you are in the castle.

The Uchisar Castle can be reached by climbing 270-odd stairs and although it might get tiring, it is worth the hard work. One of the most interesting things to do once you reach the castle is to set on an expedition to explore its caves, narrow alleys and hidden areas. This unique rock formation in the town of Uchisar comprises dozens of cross-mingling walls, rocks and chambers - forming a maze-like area.
