Akal Takht Overview

Originally known as Akal Bunga, Akal Takht is one of the five takhts in Sikhism. Takhts are the sacred seat of Sikh Gurus and they work as a place where everyone can get justice. Akal Takht is located next to the Golden Temple and is one of the finest tourist attractions in Amritsar.

Akal Takht is visited by many tourists as it also houses some of the oldest and holy books and scripts of Sikhism.

Location: Golden Temple Rd, Atta Mandi, Katra Ahluwalia, Amritsar, Punjab 143006

Entry Fee: There is no price or entry fee to visit the Akal Takht.

Timings: Monday to Sunday 5 AM to 10 PM

Best time to visit: The Winter Season (October to January) is the best time to visit Akal Takht as the temperature is suitable and pleasant. During the nighttime, the area around Akal Takht is decorated with lights and garlands.
