All the routes are dominated by dense forest ranges, wild flowers, open meadows, summit views from the distance and many more steep climbs to reach each destination.

Singalila Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Delhi connecting fly to Bagdogra airport
  • Once you reach Delhi, then catch your flight to Bagdogra Airport and meet the guide after you reach there.
  • Get a drive to Pelling and stay overnight there.
Day 2
A leisure day in Pelling - Uttarey
  • Spend a complete leisure day in Pelling visiting places of tourist interest including Pemayangtshe Monastery, changa chollan monastery, Rabdentshe palace.
  • Return to your hotel and have lunch followed by your travel to Uttarey.
Day 3
Uttarey to Chiwa Bhanjyang - 6 hours
  • For eight days you will thread your way up and over the highest reaches of the Singalila Ridge, which forms the border between Sikkim and Nepal.
  • You might meet the occasional yak herder on the way.
  • The names given to places around here however exotic it may sound to your ear are basically associated with their purpose, such as high pastures, passes and ridge points.
  • Pass through a rich forest cover, swathes of rhododendrons, open ridges, sacred lakes and remote passes.
  • Reach Chiwa Bhanjyang (3,100 m) after covering an easy trail that rises gently through rainforest until a final steep ascent for the last couple of hours brings you to the Nepalese border and that is your first camp
Day 4
Chiwa Bhanjyang. Acclimatization Day
  • Trek - 5½ hours.
  • This is an attractive setting to acquire some essential early acclimatization.
  • A hike to the nearby Singalila Peak at 3500m will give you valuable acclimatization and some excellent views.
Day 5
Chiwa Bhanjyang to Dhor - 7½ hours. Camp 3800m
  • A gentle uphill traverse through forest and then over a more exposed hillside will let you reach a point where prayer flags are found along with the distinct views of the lofty towers in the background.
  • The occasional yak herder’s hut is the only sign of habitation as you look down far below to the rice fields and cardamom plantations.
  • You will be staying in a remote campsite amidst pure nature.
Day 6
Dhor to Pare Megu - 7 hours. Camp 3800m
  • Rising just before dawn, a five-minute walk onto the ridge may reveal the spectacular sight of sunrise on both Everest and Kanchenjunga.
  • The whole day, you will be descending and climbing to have a steady progress of altitude spiraling from one side of the ridge to the other until a rough steep ascent takes us across a pass.
  • Beyond, the trail wends its way steadily through rhododendrons and past several Hindu shrines where a second easier pass drops down to our camp close to a shepherd’s summer settlement.
  • Get a chance to spot the blue sheep down the mountain side.
Day 7
Pare Megu to Lam Pokhari - 4½ hours. Camp 4300m
  • Continue walking on a good trail through woods until you begin a steady rise up a broad valley where you will be able to catch the first closer view of the entire Kabru range dominated by Mount Pandim (6,691m).
  • A further 2 hours of ascent will take you to the campsite near the Everest and a host of other Khumbu giants dominating the distant skyline.
  • An afternoon of rest and acclimatization for the following day’s foot slogging.
Day 8
Lam Pokhari to Gomathang - 6 hours. Camp 3900m
  • You are reached the high mountain country and the forests lie far below.
  • You have crossed the Lam Pokhari, which marks your entry back into Sikkim after two days of your walk along the Nepal border.
  • A little snow underfoot can be expected as you climb to the first pass, the Danphe Bhir La at 4,530 meters, the Pass of the Pheasant.
  • From here it is possible to see the whole of Sikkim with the view stretching out well into Tibet and Bhutan.
  • A further hour’s contouring and a small ascent reveals the KagBhir La (the Pass of the Crow) where you might get enough time and space to view a panorama of Himalayan peaks including Khangchendzonga.
  • Walk down the hill to reach the base camp near to the river for your stay overnight.
Day 9
Gomathang to Tikip Chu - 8 hours. Camp 3850m
  • Leave your lovely meadow camp to climb through forests of sweet smelling silver fir and rhododendrons.
  • Soon you will reach the high mountain terrain again. Look out for the brightly colored Danphe birds (Impeyan Pheasant), which nest in the high crags around the Kamsey La, 4,200 m.
  • Walk down to the meadows of Kok ling and watch the next pass located at a height of 4,300 meters where you can reach after a steady ascent up a steep crag to a skyline dominated by the dizzying pinnacles and icy cliffs of Kanchenjunga.
  • Once again you will end the day with a steep descent to the campsite by the Tikip Chu, which has its source high on the Rathong mountains (6,679 m.)
Day 10
Tikip Chu to Dzongri - 3 hrs. 4,030 meters
  • Today your route joins the regular trail up to the Goecha La.
  • A steady climb through ancient fir forest, juniper and rhododendrons gradually opens out to the summer pastures of Dzongri.
  • Another high camp, but you should get acclimatized by now probably.
Day 11
Dzongri to Lamuney - 6 hours. Camp 4,200 m.
  • Sri Khola, Dense Forests, Orchid Plantations, Colourful Birds
  • Down the hill to Kokchulang where you are likely to accost other trekkers making us look back in retrospect towards really appreciating the peace and solitude of our last few days.
  • Move easily up to the valley passing the busy trekkers campsite of Thangsing to our own riverside camp a short distance below the Samiti Lake.
Day 12
Lamuney - Goecha La - Thangshing - 10 hrs. Camp 3,800
  • Aim for the Goecha La (The Locked Gate), which lies at almost 5000m, and begin well before sunrise in the clear cold morning air.
  • Around us is an awe-inspiring Himalayan landscape of tumbling glaciers, pinnacles ridges and soaring peaks dominated by the mighty bulk of Kanchenjunga towering above, but the view from our own ‘summit’ is equally stunning.
  • Return to your high camp for a welcome breakfast. Thereafter, head down to Thangsing where the air feels wonderfully rich at just 3,600 m.
  • A long day of around 10 hours depending of course on how much time you spend at Goecha La.
Day 13
Thangsing - Lampokhari - kokchurung
  • Lampokhari which means long lake gives you an important trek which has a gradual up hill walk and after there back down to Kokchurung which it takes altogether 5-6 hour.
Day 14
Kokchurung - Tshoka
  • On new ground today, follow the traditional route back to the main valley.
  • Tshoka is an enchanting little Tibetan settlement perched on a mountain spur. It will be your first encounter on this trek with permanent village life, and the novelty of having a roof over your heads will add a new dimension to the journey.
Day 15
Tshoka to Yuksom
  • Descend through rainforest rich with bird-life and flowers, across spectacular bridges spanning cascading rivers whose sources are high in the mountains you have already witnessed.
  • Tired and elated you will arrive in Yuksom and later check into your hotel and relax.
  • This will be your last evening with the trekking crew so you are getting an option to celebrate the last day with the team mates.
Day 16
Leisure day at Yuksom
  • Get a leisure day at Yuksom and spend the time according to your wish.
Day 17
Departure
  • Wake up early in the morning have some tea or breakfast and then get a drive to Bagdogra for your return journey.

Know Before You Go for Singalila Trek

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the trek. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
  • Pay heed to the trek guides and instructors in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
  • The Singalila trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travelers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
  • Avoid using earphones during the Singalila trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • In case, the Singalila trek needs to be canceled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.

  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the package.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the Singalila trek.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for the trek.
